      Charles Richard "Chuck" Horstman

      July 30, 1959-May 18, 2013

Shreveport, LA - Chuck passed away peacefully at home after a long and bravely fought battle with cancer. His son, Austin, was by his side. Born in Biloxi, MS in 1959, he graduated from Airline High School in 1977, and graduated from LSUS in 1982. Chuck worked in banking, but found he was best suited to work in car finance. Known for his honesty, there are thousands of people in the Ark-La-Tex who left Chuck's office happy with a new car. Chuck's true life-long love was music, playing guitar and performing. He played in numerous local bands including Xtra and Time Bandits and never turned down the opportunity to jump on stage and jam. A highlight of his music career was traveling nationally with another band, Kinematics 101. From his actual day-to-day work or to his love of performing Chuck's happiness was derived from making people smile and have a good time.

He is survived by his parents, Rich and Jan Horstman, sisters, Laura Finken (Andrew) of Lowell, AR, Beth Smiley (Adrian), one son, Austin, nieces and nephews Sarah, Justin, Ben and Amelia. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Horstman.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you take time to enjoy some of your favorite music, maybe Eric Clapton, or your favorite guitar hero.
