- Obituary:
Melva McCaughn Sebesta passed away on Friday, August 24, at the age of 68 years in Jourdanton, TX.
Mrs. Sebesta was a resident of Pleasanton, TX where she was active in the community and the First United Methodist Church. She served as the first lady President of the Texas Choral Directors Association and the first lady President of the Southwest Division of the American Choral Directors Association. She was a charter member of the Texas Music Adjudicators Association where she also served as Executive Secretary for 10 years. Mrs. Sebesta was a life member of the Texas State Teachers Association and the Texas Retired Teachers Association where she served as local Unit President, District XX Historian, Vice President, and recently District President for a short time.
She is survived by her daughter, Grace Littlefield and her husband Bob of Angleton, TX, and one grandson, Robbie Littlefield. She is also survived by numerous cousins and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Ella McCaughn, and most recently her husband of 46 years, Joe Sebesta Jr.
Visitation will be Friday, August 31, 2001 from 2:00-8:00 P.M. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton, TX. Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 1, 2001 at the First United Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. in Pleasanton. Burial will follow at the Amphion Cemetery near Poteet, TX.
