Brenda Kay Shaw, 55 of Ida, LA passed away June 21, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Ida Methodist Church in Ida, LA officiated by Rev. Jerry Means, Rev. Kendal Docter and Rev. Sandy Defatta.

She was born January 13, 1959 in Atlanta, TX and lived in Ida all of her life. She was a member of the Ida Methodist Church. She loved gardening, writing poetry and art. Brenda was preceded in death by her father Paul Terry. She is survived by her mother, Nancy Terry of Ida, LA, her 3 children; Nate Shaw of Ida, Martin Shaw of Ida, and Thomas Shaw and wife Crissy of Ida, and her grandson Jacob Shaw.

Paul Martin Terry, 72, of Ida, LA passed away Monday, May 24, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday May 26, 2010 at Ida United Methodist Church in Ida, LA officiated by Rev. Kendell Docter and Rev Jerry Means. The family will receive friends for a visitation Tuesday the 25th from 6-7 PM at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA.

Paul was born January 4, 1938 in Ida, LA. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Petty Terry, his daughter Brenda Shaw of Ida, La, his grandsons, Nathan Shaw and Martin Shaw both of Ida, LA and Thomas Shaw and wife Crissy of Shreveport, LA and his great grandson Jacob Fox Shaw of Shreveport, LA, his brother, Larry Terry and wife Nancy of Magnolia, AR, his sisters Virginia Brackman of Palestine, TX, Betty Lawton and husband Sheryl of Lafayette, LA and Ruth Mixon and husband Mike of Farmerville, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.

IDA - Mr. Jewell Franklin Terry, 55, died Sunday after a sudden illness. He was a member of Ida Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the McGuire Funeral Home chapel with burial in the Bethsaida Cemetery. The Rev. Milton Sargent officiated, assisted by the Rev. Conrad Edwards.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Paul M. Terry of Ida and Larry Terry of South Charleston, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Sue Lawton of Fort Smith, Ark.; Mrs. Ruth Ann Mixon of Farmerville; and Mrs. Virginia K. Brackman of Bradley, Ark.; five grandchildren and one brother, R. N. Terry of Baldwin.

Ida, LA - Service celebrating the life of Mattie Lee Terry, 92, will be held at 2 pm Sunday June 7, 2009 at Ida Methodist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Kendall Doctor and Reverend Jerry Means. Internment will follow in Bethsaida Cemetery in Ida. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Saturday June 6, 2009 at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA.

Mrs. Terry was born to Norman and Jennie Lee Martin in Ida, LA on December 24, 1916. She went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2009 in Magnolia, AR at the home of her son Larry Terry and his wife, who cared for her the last 6 months of her life.

Mrs. Terry was a life long resident of Ida and faithful member of Ida United Methodist Church. She worked her entire life as a homemaker and farmer, while raising five children. Mrs. Terry was never afraid of hard work and often worked harder than many men. She loved gardening, beautiful flowers and especially her roses and made some of the best biscuits known to man.

She was preceded by her parents, her husband J. F. "Shem" Terry and her son-in-law Phil Brackman.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons Paul Martin Terry and wife Nancy of Ida, LA and Larry Wayne Terry and wife Nancy of Magnolia, AR, daughters Betty Sue Lawton and husband Sheryl of Lafayette, LA, Ruth Ann Mixon and husband Mike of Farmerville, LA, and Virginia Brackman of Palestine, TX, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous extended family members.

Pallbearers will be Fred Mixon, Stewart Mixon, Jeff Brackman, Herb Vickers, Thomas Shaw and LeRoy Farmer.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Professional Home Health of Springhill, LA and Life Touch Hospice in Magnolia, AR, whose employees provided such wonderful care in the last months of Mrs. Terry's life.

Mrs. Jennie L. Martin Dies Tuesday at Ida

Mrs. Jennie Lee Martin, 54, lifelong resident of Ida, died at her residence at 9 p.m. Tuesday of a heart attack.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mattie Lee Terry of Ida, and Mrs. Mable Gardner of Shreveport; two sons, Newton Martin of St. Martinsville, and M/Sgt. Scott Martin in the Air Force in Selma, Ala.; also seven grandsons and two granddaughters; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Mae Sparks of Ida.

Funeral arrangements in charge of Hanna Funeral Home of Vivian are incomplete. The body will be at the family residence in Ida.
