    SPRINGHILL, LA - Services for Mr. Lyman G. McKinney, 83, will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2000 at the Rocky Mount Presbyterian Church, Rocky Mount, LA with the Rev. Charles R. Langford officiating. Burial will be in the Rocky Mount Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA.

    Mr. McKinney, a resident of Springhill for the last 50 years, passed away Monday, August 28, 2000 in Plain Dealing, LA after a long illness. He was a member of the Springhill United Methodist Church, a retired manager of the Term Plan Finance Company for 31 years, a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army-Air Corps, a member of the Banks-Strong American Legion Post No. 166, the 40 & 8 Club and the Rotary Club. Mr. McKinney was active in community and civic activities.

    He is survived by his wife with whom he had celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary on June 16, 2000, Jean Dalrymple McKinney; son, George Lyman McKinney and his wife, Sylvia of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Claudia Diane Bailey and her husband, Calvin, Aaron Drew McKinney, Christopher Nolan McKinney; a great-granddaughter, Cassie Alyssa Bailey; sister, Linda LaTour of Ville Platte, LA; a host of nieces and nephews.

    Pallbearers will be R. C. Cox, Calvin Bailey, Aaron McKinney, Chris McKinney, Jack Leachman, Parnell Jones, Rex Means and Larry Wise.

    The family would like to express special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Whispering Pines Nursing Home in Plain Dealing, LA for their loving care and consideration.

    SPRINGHILL, LA - Funeral services for Jean Dalrymple McKinney, age 87, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Springhill United Methodist Church with Rev. Walter Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Rocky Mount Cemetery, Plain Dealing, under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA.

    Mrs. McKinney, a lifelong resident of this area, passed from this life on Saturday, February 6, 2010 in Bossier City, LA. She was a faithful member of the Springhill United Methodist Church and a member of the Baxter Sunday School Class. She served as the Clerk of Court for Springhill City Court for approximately 20 years, retiring in 1987.

    Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lyman G. McKinney on August 28, 2000; her parents, Wilburn F. and Hattie Bumgardner Dalrymple and sisters, Mary Lynn Wise and infant, Shirley Dalrymple.

    Left to give thanks for her love and memory are her brother, N. A. "Buddy" Dalrymple; her son, George L. McKinney and wife, Sylvia, of Rocky Mount, LA; grandsons, Aaron McKinney and wife, Angie of Bossier City, LA; Christopher McKinney of Ft. Benning, GA and granddaughter, Claudia McKinney of Springhill, LA. Jean was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Cassie, Cozy, Jaxon, Julian, Eli, Bryce and Brinly and a host of nieces and nephews.

    Jean walked this earth quietly with God, accepting good times and bad with equal grace.

    Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Wise, Billy Dalrymple, Christopher McKinney, Aaron McKinney, Pamell Jones and Sam Maggio.

    The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff of Cypress Point Nursing and Rehabilitation and to Life Path Hospice for their loving care and consideration for Jean.

    Memorials to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital are suggested in lieu of flowers.

    The family will receive friends at Bailey Mortuary from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8.

    WILBURN F. DALRYMPLE

    Services for Wilburn F. Dalrymple, 82, of Benton will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Rose-Neath Funeral Home Bossier, City Chapel. The Rev. K.K. Corkern, pastor of Red River Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lay Cemetery in Benton.

    Mr. Dalrymple died at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Bossier City General Hospital after a short illness. A native and lifelong resident of Benton, he was a retired farmer. He was a member of Red River Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War I.

    Survivors include son, N.A. Dalrymple of Benton; daughters, Jean McKinney of Springhill and Mary Lynn Wise of Magnolia, Ark.; sisters, Ethel Ryan of Benton and Mary Belle Love of Leesville; brothers, Harvey L. Dalrymple of Bossier City, Gordon Dalrymple of Magnolia and Alfred Dalrymple of Minden; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    Pallbearers will be Billy Dalrymple, Jerry Dalrymple, Larry Wise, Jack Leachman, George McKinney, Hal Boylston, Charles Jeffries and R.W. Moreland.

    Hattie B. Dalrymple

    Funeral services for Hattie Bumgardner Dalrymple, 88, of Benton will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Bossier City Chapel with the Rev. K. K. Corkern, pastor of Red River Baptist Church, officiating.

    Burial will be in Lay Cemetery, Benton.

    Mrs. Dalrymple died at 1:05 a.m. Friday at Bossier City General Hospital.

    A lifetime resident of Bossier Parish, she was a former school teacher and a member of the Red River Baptist Church.

    Survivors include her husband, Wilburn F. Dalrymple; one son, N. A. Dalrymple of Benton; two daughters, Jean McKinney of Springhill and Mary Lynn Wise of Magnolia, Ark.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren

    It is with keen regret that your correspondent reports the death of a good neighbor, Mr. L. R. Bumgardner, who, following a lingering illness, passed away at his home here last Saturday.

    Mr. Bumgardner was born in Talladega, Ala., November 18, 1860, and during 1869 was brought to Bossier Parish by his parents. He continued to reside in the parish up to the time of his death. He was a member of the board of directors of the Bank of Benton for a number of years and a member of the Bossier Parish School Board for more than ten years, and up to the time of his death. He was a devoted Christian gentleman, a member of the Baptist Church, ever ready to assist the needy, and a kindly and considerate husband, father and friend. He was married to Lamantha Carolina Holly on April 2, 1885, and to this union nine children were born, seven of whom survive him.

    A short service, conducted by Rev. J. M. Hickson, a long-time friend, and Rev. R. L. Holmes, pastor of Ardis Memorial Baptist Church, was held at the family residence at 1:30 p.m. Sunday and the remains were then taken to Linton Baptist Church, near his old home, and the service completed at four p.m., with interment in Linton Cemetery.

    Decedent is survived by the widow, one brother, Mr. W. R. Bumgardner, of Ida; four sons, Mr. Ernest Bumgardner, of Homer, and Messrs. Robert, Gordon and Harry Bumgardner, of Bossier City; three daughters, Mrs. W. F. Dalrymple, of Midway; Mrs. W. R. Birdwell, of Linton, and Mrs. W. H. Boylston, of Grand Bayou, and six grandchildren, all of whom were at the beside when the end came.

    Those named to serve as active pallbearers were Messrs. N. W. Sentell, A. M. Teague, J. E. Williams, Henry Matthews, V. V. Whittington and Jim Pilkinton. Those named as honorary pallbearers: Members of the Parish School Board and the board of directors of the Bank of Benton.

    A large number of friends accompanied the remains to the old church, where still others gathered to pay their last respects to their departed friend and associate. The great number of beautiful flowers spoke of the esteem and lvoe of the friends in words that cannot be expressed. The members o the family are appreciative of the many kindnesses and messages shown and received.

    L. R. Bumgardner Called By Death

    Lewis Roland Bumgardner, one of Bossier's most prominent men, a bank director and a former member of the Parish School Board passed quietly away at his home in Bossier City last Saturday morning at 8:05 o'clock.

    Mr. Bumgardner was born in Talladega, Alabama, just a short while before the Civil War started. In 1869 his parents moved to Bossier Parish and he has resided in this parish since that time. On April 2, 1885 he was married to Lamantha Caroline Holly. He was a devoted christian, a member of the Baptist church and was already ready to lend assistance wherever needed, a good husband, beloved father and a true friend.

    Besides his wife, Mrs. Lamantha Caroline Bumgardner, the deceased is survived by four sons, Robert, Gordan and Harry, of Bossier City, and Ernest of Homer, La.; three daughters, Mrs. W. R. Birdwell, of Linton; Mrs. W. H. Boylston, of Grand Bayou, La.; Mrs. W. F. Dalrymple, of Midway, and six grandchildren, who were all at the bedside when the end came.

    Funeral services were held at the family residence on Thompson Street at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. After the services here the remains were taken to the Linton Baptist Church for the completion of the services at 4 p.m. and the interment in the Linton Cemetery.

    Rev. J. M. Hickson, a life long friend of the deceased, conducted the services, ably assited by the pastor of the Ardis Memorial Church of Bossier City, Rev. R. L. Holmes.

    Active pallbearers were Roland Grounds, J. E. Williams, Henry Mathews, V. V. Whittington, A. H. Montgomery and Jim Pilkington.

    Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Bossier Parish School Bard: Dr. C. H. Irion, N. W. Sentell, Dr. C. M. Tucker, G. B. Smith, C. Hudson and Jack P. Fullilove, and the directors of the Benton Bank.

    AGED WOMAN DIED HERE LAST SUNDAY

    Last rites for Mrs. Lamantha C. Bumgardner, 71, of 600 Thompson Street, who died at her home last Sunday, were held at four o'clock Monday afternoon at the Linton church, near Benton, with Rev. W. L. Stagg, local Baptist pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Linton cemetery, under the direction of the Wellman funeral home.

    Pallbearers were T. R. Miller, A. M. Teague, Lonnie Houston, J. E. Pilkinton, V. V. Whittington, A. L. Andreola, Tom Hickman and W. M. McCall.

    Mrs. Bumgardner was married in 1885 to the late Lewis Roland Bumgardner, well known planter. She was the daughter of the late Nathan and Martha Holley.

    The deceased is survived by nine children, who are: Ernest R. Bumgardner of Homer, Mrs. W. F. Dalrymple of Benton, Robert L. Bumgardner of Benton, Mrs. W. R. Birdwell, Mrs. W. H. Boylston, L. G. Bumgardner and Harry Bumgardner, all of Bossier City. One sister, Mrs. Fannie Smith, of Cotton Valley, and a brother, M. H. Holley, of this place, also surive.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Lamantha C. Bumgardner, 71, of 600 Thompson street Bossier City, La., will be held at the Linton church near Benton, La., at 4 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. W. L.
