    Funeral services for Mr. Robert Earl Evans, Jr., age 82 of Ruston, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston. Brother Dalton Shovan will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

    Mr. Evans was born May 25, 1929 in Ruston to Robert Earl Evans, Sr. and Earla Andrews Evans. He died October 31, 2011 after a brief illness. Mr. Evans worked as a veterinarian, as well as a jeweler's assistant for Grigsby's Jewelers. He retired from the Ruston office of the Louisiana State Highway Department. In his spare time, Mr. Evans enjoyed being outdoors and especially working in the prayer garden at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church as well as raising orphaned animals. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

    Mr. Evans is survived by his two daughters: Dianne and husband Jimmy Harkins of Boerne, Texas and Robbin Evans of Ruston; one grandson: Falon Harkins and wife Nikki of Anchorage, Alaska; one sister: Ebond and husband Bill Smelley of Ruston as well as numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife: Maxine Peterson Evans; two sisters: Lucille Brewster and Ollie Mae Evans and his parents.

    Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston. Memorial donations may be made to the Wesley Chapel Prayer Garden or to the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund.

    SPRINGHILL, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Merle Evans, age 78, will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the Bailey Mortuary Chapel with Bro. Mike Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA.

    Mrs. Evans was born January 13, 1929 in Sarepta, LA to John Hollis and Lillie May Franks Houston and passed away September 17, 2007 in Springhill, LA. She was a resident of Springhill and a member of New Sarepta Baptist Church.

    She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Harkins and husband, Jimmy of Boerne, TX; grandson, Falon Derek Harkins of Alaska; sister, Hollis Jeane Childs of Shongaloo, LA and several nieces and nephews.

    Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her parents.

    SAREPTA, LA. - Services for Mr. John Hollis Houston, 82, of Sarepta, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday Jan. 11 at the New Sarepta Baptist Church. Dr. Richard May will officiate. Burial will be at Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary in Springhill.

    Mr. Houston died Friday Jan. 9, 1987, in Springhill after a short illness. He was a retired bookkeeper and notary. Mr. Houston was a native of Logansport, La. and a lifelong resident of Sarepta.

    He is survived by his wife, Lillie Franks Houston of Sarepta; two daughters, Hollis Jeanne Childs of Minden, La., Lillie Merle Evans of Sarepta; one brother, Charles C. Houston of Amarillo, Texas; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two nieces; four nephews.

    Pallbearers: Bob Patterson, Joe Love, P.S. Phillips, C.G. Alford, B.H. Huckabay, Curtis Morgan, Harold Newsome and Richard Griffin.

    SAREPTA, LA. - Services for Mrs. Lillie Franks Houston, 84, of Sarepta, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday June 17 at New Sarepta Baptist Church. Rev. Scott Teutsch will officiate, assisted by Rev. Leo Beck. Burial: Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill.

    Mrs. Houston died Thursday, June 16, 1988, at Humana Hospital, Springhill following a short illness. She was a native of Sarepta having lived there for the past 67 years. She was a member of the New Sarepta Baptist Church and was a retired school teacher, having taught first grade in the Sarepta School District for 42 years. She also taught one year at Minden, La.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hollis Houston, January 9, 1987.

    She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hollis Jeanne Childs of Minden, La. and Mrs. Lillie Merle Evans, of Sarepta; 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
