    ORIE 'LEE' PUGH, 85

    BARTOW - Orie 'Lee' Pugh, age 85, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Rohr Nursing Home in Bartow.

    Born August 22, 1930 in Sarepta, LA, Mr. Pugh was a resident of Bartow since 1986, moving from Lake Wales. He was a Science & Physical Education Teacher for many years. He was a baseball enthusiast and an avid Rays Fan. Lee was a dedicated Christian who loved the Lord. He loved with all his heart his wife and family.

    He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy K. Pugh, Bartow; five daughters: Grace Owen, Shari Mayfield and Nan Simon, all of Lakeland, Barbie Miller of Bartow & Cindy Sloan of Winter Haven, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

    Family will receive friends Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Bartow First Assembly of God, 915 S. Broadway Ave. Interment will be held at Florida National Cemetery.     LAKELAND - Nancy Carole Pugh, 79, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Carole was born in Ethel, Mississippi to Thomas Lawson and Nancy Burchield.
    Carole moved to Florida in 1970. After raising her girls she went back to school as a surgery technician, and she worked at Lakeland Regional for 22 years. Carole is fondly remembered for her love of family, sports, and witty sense of humor.

    She is greatly missed and survived by daughters: Grace Owen (David), Nan Simon (Dave), and Shari Mayfield (Ray), grandchildren: Dustin Mayfield, Joshua Mayfield, Molly Simon and Brock Simon, along with grand dogs Ripley and Sadie Owen; one great grandchild: Lilah Mayfield, sisters: Ellen Wasson and Ann Dean, along with a host of other family and friends.

    A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 2pm-4pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, 3350 Mall Hill Drive, Lakeland. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in Carole's name to Good Shepherd Hospice.

    SAREPTA, LA - Services for Mr. Stephen B. Pugh, Sr., 95, of Sarepta, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday Sept. 15 at the New Sarepta Baptist Church, where he was a member and deacon. The Rev. Richard May will officiate. Burial: Old Sarepta Cemetery. Plans are under the direction of Bailey Mortuary of Springhill, La.

    He died Tuesday Sept. 13, 1983, in Springhill. Mr. Pugh, a native of the Friendship Community in DeSoto Parish, La. and a resident of Sarepta for 55 years, was retired from International Paper Co. and was a retired farmer.

    He is survived by three sons, Dr. N.O. Pugh, Sr. of Shreveport, Stephen B. Pugh, Jr. of Sarepta and Orie Lee Pugh of Lake Wales, Fla.; one daughter, Margaret Ashbaugh of Blue Springs, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

    Pallbearers will be David Lynn Pugh, Jack Pugh, Lester Crawford, Lester Fife, E.L. Edwards and Dr. Newell O. Pugh, Jr.

    Mrs. Pugh, a native and lifelong resident of the Sarepta area, died Wednesday Feb. 2, 1983, in Springhill. She was an active member and Sunday school teacher at New Sarepta Baptist Church, was active in the Southern Baptist Missionary Association, and taught school in the public schools at Logansport.

    She is survived by her husband, Stephen B. Pugh, Sr. of Sarepta; three sons, Dr. N.O. Pugh, Sr. of Shreveport, Stephen B. Pugh, Jr. of Sarepta, and Orie Lee Pugh of Lake Wales, Fla.; a daughter, Margaret Ashbaugh of Blue Springs, Kan.; a sister, Gertie Cochran of Sarepta; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
