    Elouise Mitchell Hebert age 84 and a life-long resident of Robeline, La was born October 19, 1938, and passed away peacefully at home on April 24, 2023, with her family by her side.

    Elouise was a caring and loving wife, mother and Maw-maw. She was a reputable hairdresser for more than 50 years. She was often found working in her hair salon. She enjoyed visiting with her clients and always had a cold coke when thirsty. Some of her favorite pass times were garage selling and meeting new people, working in her flower gardens, and always had a beautifully decorated yard for Christmas.

    She is survived by her husband Ray Hebert. Three children, daughters, Cindy Veillon, Susan Jordan and husband Clark, Edward Elkins and Jennifer; grandchildren, Conan Elkins and Yetta, Patty Moak and Josh, Joey Clary and Lisa, Mandy Sawyer and Chris, Sherry Scott and Scotty, Lauren Richter and Dustin, Lantz Vercher, Laraye Harris and Joshua, Layne Elkins and Andrew; 24 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren; four brothers Junior Mitchell, C. W. Mitchell, Vernon Mitchell, and Dewayne Mitchell; and three sisters, Evelyn Gary, Betty Jennings, and Brenda Townsend.

    She is proceeded in death by her mother and father Joe Mitchell Sr. and Arbi Broadway Mitchell, one son David Glen Elkins, one great-grandson Joe Joe Moak, two brothers Ray Mitchell and James Mitchell, and one sister Laverne Colston (Dott).

    The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Natchitoches and to all the family and friends that visited and kept her in their prayers.

    Service will be held at Rocky Mount Methodist Church on Friday April 28, 2023, at 2 P.M. with Brother Brian Jennings officiating. Visitation for family friends will begin at 10 A.M. until service time. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Cemetery.

    Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chris (Bubba) Sawyer, Chris Sawyer, Lantz Vercher, Conan Elkins, Kaden Elkins, Joey Clary, Jace Scott, and Josh Moak.

    NATCHITOCHES - Services for Thomas T. Elkins will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis with Dr. James Carter officiating. Masonic graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Gilgal Cemetery, Minden.

    Elkins, 78, of Natchitoches died Saturday, May 21, 1994, in his residence.

    He was a native of Minden and an inductee in the Louisiana Athletic Association Hall of Fame. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church, Natchitoches, and a member of the American Legion, the Lions Club, the "N" Club and the Red Cross of Constantine.

    He was a graduate of Northwestern State University, a hospital board member for 38 years and chairman of the Natchitoches Parish Hospital. He was a retired coach and principal, a World War II Navy veteran, past Grand Master of the Louisiana Grand Lodge, past Worthy Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a board member of the Masonic Home for Children and was on the board of trustees at Shriners Hospital.

    Survivors include his wife, Alwilda B. Elkins of Natchitoches; two sons, Manson "Gene" Elkins of Many and Thomas D. Elkins of Natchitoches; four brothers, John Elkins of Shreveport, Joe Glen Elkins of Mountain City, Tenn., Wilson Elkins of Conroe, Texas, and Hulin Elkins of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Ruby Coleman of Delhi; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

    Pallbearers will be John Ropp, Dan Poole, Dwayne Murphy, Norm Fletcher, Bob Pender and Clyde Osborn.

    Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.

    Memorials may be made to Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital, the Louisiana Baptist Childrens Home in Monroe or the Natchitoches Parish Hospital Foundation Scholarship Fund.

    NATCHITOCHES - Services for Alwilda Bumgardner Elkins will be at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis with the Revs. George Banister and Gary Allen officiating. Burial will be in Gilgal Cemetery, Minden.

    Mrs. Elkins, 77, of Natchitoches died Sunday, March 3, 1996, in Natchitoches Parish Hospital.

    She was a native of Benton and a graduate of Northwestern State University. She was a retired schoolteacher. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Natchitoches Chapter No. 13 Order of the Eastern Star and Emmanuel Baptist Church.

    Survivors include two sons, Mason "Gene" Elkins of Many and Thomas D. Elkins of Natchitoches; two sisters, Ada Brown of Shreveport and Mary Bass of Ringgold; one brother, Fred Bumgardner of Macon, Ga.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

    Bumgardner Burial Rites Slated Today

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Rose-Neath chapel for Jacob Alex Bumgardner, 63, of 719 Travis street, who died at 11:30 p.m. Monday at a local hospital after a long illness.

    The Rev. H.G. Buchanan, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church, will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at the Red River cemetery at Linton.

    Bumgardner, a retired shipping clerk, had been a resident of Shreveport for the past 35 years. He was born at Linton in Bossier parish. He was associated with the Hemenway-Johnson Furniture company and later with the Roby Furniture company. He retired three years ago due to ill health.

    Bumgardner is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lena Kendrick Bumgardner; four sons, J.K. of Baton Rouge; F.A., F.M. and J.E., all of Shreveport; four daughters, Mrs. T.T. Elkins, Natchitoches; Mrs. W.V. Sistrunk and Mrs. V.H. Brown, both of Shreveport; and Mrs. Louis Bass of Long Beach, Calif.; one brother, John W. Bumgardner, Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. J.G. Warfield, Houston, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.

    Active pallbearers will be R.L. Hudson, W.R. Birdwell, Harry Bumgardner, W.F. Dalrymple, Jr., Arthur Ray Teague, and Milton Davis.

    Honorary pallbearers will be H.D. Tucker, Dr. John W. Cobb and employees of the Roby Furniture company.

    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Marshall Street Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home for Lena Bumgardner, 84, of 2913 Judson St.

    Mrs. Bumgardner died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Schumpert Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

    Services will be conducted by the Rev. O.H. Prothro, a retired Baptist minister. Burial will be in Lay Cemetery near Benton.

    Mrs. Bumgardner was a native of Tullos but had lived in Shreveport most of her life. She was a member of the Queensborough Baptist Church, the Broadmoore Chapter Order of Eastern Star and the VFW Auxiliary.

    She is survived by three sons, John K. Bumgardner, of Baton Rouge, Fred Bumgardner, of Macon, Ga., and James Bumgardner, of Shreveport; four daughter, Mrs. Tom Elkins, Baton Rouge, Mrs. Beth Sistrunk and Mrs. Vollie H. Brown, both of Shreveport, and Mrs. Louis Bass of Slidell; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
