Denny Gene Holcombe, passed away at 5:08 a.m. at his home in West Columbia on June 29, 2011.

He was born in Shreveport, LA on April 8, 1928, to Harvey and Sarah Holcombe. He retired from Phillips Petroleum Company, after 36 years. Denny was a loyal member of the First United Methodist Church in Sweeny, Texas. He regularly led the men's Bible study class and maintained the audio system at the church. He was a member of The Brazoria County Modelers Association and a veteran of the US Army. He was an avid ham radio operator, enjoyed astronomy, fishing, hunting, electronics, word puzzles, and his family.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marcy Jean Holcombe, four sons, Robert Eugene and wife Trudi (Liz Ophoven); David Ray and wife Julie; Roy Allen; and Frank Harvey and wife Mary (Glen Freake and Danny Pickett), with 8 grandchildren, Brooke, Shawn and wife Sandra, Will and wife Jessica, Kristen, Tricia, Marcy and husband Jake Lamprecht, Brandon, and Cherise; and 8 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church of Sweeny, Texas, with Pastor Kenneth James officiating and Pastor Sherry Q. Crenshaw presenting the eulogy.

Marcy Jean Holcombe peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior at 1:25 p.m., at her home in West Columbia, TX, on March 30, 2016. She was born in Austin, TX, on April 9, 1931, to Earnest and Lydia Deutsch.

Marcy Jean grew up and married in Bay City, TX, where she lived and raised her family. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, canning, cooking and baking, but most of all she loved her family. Marcy Jean was married to Denny Gene Holcombe, who preceded her five years ago, for 63 years.

Marcy Jean Holcombe is survived by four sons, Robert Eugene and wife, Trudi (Liz Ophoven), David Ray and wife, Julie, Roy Allen, and Frank Harvey and wife, Mary (Glen Freake and Danny Pickett); with eight grandchildren, Brooke, Shawn and wife, Sandra, Will and wife, Jessica, Kristen, Tricia, Marcy and husband, Jake Lamprecht, Brandon, and Cherise; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Capital Baptist Church in West Columbia, TX, on April 23, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Kenneth James officiating. In lieu of flowers and gifts, a donation to the Brazosport College Foundation, at 979-230-3245, in her name, would help others pursue their dreams and aspirations.
