    Rayne, LA - A Mass of Christian Burial for Janet Faye McBride, 55, of Rayne will be celebrated on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne. Father Christopher Cambre, Associate Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2, Rayne.

    Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM in Gossen Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM in the funeral home.

    Janet passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017 at her Rayne residence.

    A native and lifelong resident of Rayne, Janet was a faithful and faith filled member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She demonstrated her faith by praying daily rosaries, and by assisting with the Good Samaritans.

    Janet earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at University of Southwest Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette), and served as a school teacher in Acacia Parish schools for several years. She also worked for many years selling cars. She loved the outdoors, enjoyed camping, and could often be found working in her flower gardens. She had a green thumb, and could grow beautiful plants that others had given up on. Janet was also a fan of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tiger football.

    Janet was most passionate about her family and friends. She was a loyal friend to many, and her greatest joy was being with and caring for her family. Janet will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

    Survivors include her daughter, Ellie Comeaux Duplichain and husband, Jared of Rayne; son, Dave Comeaux, Jr. of Rayne; brothers, Stephen McBride of Breaux Bridge, and John McBride of Mire; sister, Louise McBride Cannon and husband, Mark of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Sydnee Duplichain, Rhen Thomas Duplichain, and Thayer Duplichain; nephew, Michael Guidry; and Godchild, Ridge Thibodeaux. Janet is also survived by a host of close friends.

    Preceding Janet in death were her parents, Sidney McBride, Sr. and Isabelle Benoit McBride; and brothers, Sidney James McBride, Jr. and Gregory McBride.

    Serving as pallbearers are Michael Guidry, Carl McBride, Thomas Sweeney, Mark Cannon, David LeLeux, and Reggie Thibodeaux.

    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 1999, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for Sidney James McBride Sr., 73, who died Thursday, July 15, at his home.

    The Rev. Joseph Stemmans officiated. Interment followed in the new St. Joseph Cemetery in the McBride family plot.

    Readers were Marilyn McBride Leleux and Roy Lynn Trahan. Presentation of gifts were by Louise McBride Cannon, Janet McBride, Stephen McBride and John McBride.

    A lifelong resident of Rayne, Mr. McBride was a mbmer of St. Joseph Catholic Church and American Legion Post 77. He was a graduate of Rayne High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and saw action in the Pacific aboard the USS San Diego.

    Mr. McBride was in the income tax service and was owner and operator of McBride's Grocery. In 1984, he retired as a clerk with the Acadia Parish Clerk of Court.

    Sidney was an avid fisherman and was an avid golfer at his beloved Cajun Pines Golf Course.

    Survivors include his wife, Isabelle Benoit McBride; two sons, Stephen Scott McBride of Lafayette and John Mervin McBride of Rayne; two daughters and a son-in-law, Louise McBride Cannon and Mark Cannon of New Iberia and Janet Faye McBride; his grandchildren, Ellie Louise Comeaux and Dave Oneal Comeaux of Rayne; his sister, Marilyn McBride Leleux; and his three brothers, Edward Scott McBride of Kingsville, Md., Warren Stephen McBride of Rayne and Harold Anthony McBride of Garland, Texas.

    He was preceded in death by two sons, Gregory Neal McBride and Sidney James McBride Jr.; his parents, Zulma Plattsmier McBride and Edward Scott McBride Sr.; and his sister, Kathleen McBride Leleux.

    Pallbearers were Mark Cannon, Harold P. Leleux, David E. Leleux, Carl J. McBride, Warren S. McBride and Harold A. McBride.

    Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne was in charge of the arrangmenets.

    A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Father Bill Ruskoski at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2009, for Isabelle Benoit McBride, 79, who passed away at her home in Rayne on Saturday, August 1, 2009.

    Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne.

    Mrs. McBride was born on Sept. 29, 1930, near Church Point, the youngest daughter of Ophie and Louise Bearb Benoit.

    She was a life-long resident of Rayne who was active in St. Joseph Catholic Church as a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Rayne #844, the Ladies Altar Society, the Lay Carmelites and a member of the Good Samaritans.

    Isabelle McBride was a graduate of SLI (now UL Lafayette) with degrees in business and education.

    She and her late husband, Sidney, were proprietors of McBride Grocery for many years and she also spent many years at a teacher at South Rayne Elementary and Armstrong Middle School.

    She is survived by sons Stephen McBride of Breaux Bridge and John McBride of Rayne; daughter, Louise McBride Cannon and her husband Mark of Houston, Texas and daughter Janet McBride of Rayne. She is also survived by grandchildren, Ellie Comeaux Duplichain and husband Jared, Dave Comeaux, Jr. and Michael Guidry. Also surviving is one brother, Wilton J. Benoit and sister-in-law Hazel Beaugh Benoit.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Ophie and Louise Benoit; one brother, Mervin "Blackie" Benoit; two sisters, Emma "Rose" Benoit Thibodeaux and Marjorie Benoit Smith; her husband, Sidney James McBride, Sr.; and two sons, Sidney James "Jamie" Mcbride, Jr., and Gregory Neal McBride.

    Visitation was observed at Gossen Funeral Home on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:20 p.m. Visitation continued Monday morning, Aug. 3, 2009, from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

    The family would like to express special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana.

    Edward S. McBride, Rayne Resident, Succumbs Friday

    RAYNE, La. - Edward Scott McBride, Sr., 59 year old life-long resident of Rayne, died at 12:20 p.m. Friday at the Veteran's hospital in New Orleans following an illness of one year. Mr. McBride was born March 13, 1894 in Rayne.

    Time of funeral services have not been set pending the arrival of a son, Lt. Edward McBride, jr., who was in Baltimore, MD., to spend Christmas with his wife and her family. Last rites will be conducted at the St. Joseph's Catholic church in Rayne with burial in the church cemetery. Until the hour for last rites the body will remain at the Gossen Funeral home.

    Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion, Arceneaux Post 77 of Rayne, of which Mr. McBride was a charter member and past commander. He was a veteran of World War I.

    He is survived by his wife, the former May Plattsmier; four sons, Lt. McBride, Sidney and Harold McBride of Rayne, and Warren McBride, who is stationed with the Navy at Key West, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Leleux of Estherwood and Mrs. Dan Leleux of Rayne; one brother, Walter McBride of Rayne; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Privat and Miss Ella McBride of Rayne, and three grandchildren.

    Last Rites for Zulma McBride

    Funeral services were held on February 1 at 3 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mrs. Zulma McBride, 82, who died at the Rayne-Branch Hospital on January 31 at 8:50 a.m. Burial followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

    She is survived by four sons, Edward McBride of Maryland, Sidney and Warren McBride, both of Rayne and Harold McBride of Texas; one daughter, Marilyn Leleux of Esterwood; and two sisters, Mrs. Valorie Hebert of Rayne and Mrs. E.C. Andrus of Eunice, 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

    Gossen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
