    JENNINGS - Funeral services for Rufus Leon Lavergne, 57, will be at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 10, in Matthews and Son Funeral Home.

    The Rev. Lindsey Burns will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

    Visitation is from 8 a.m.

    Mr. Lavergne died at 2:55 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, in the Jennings hospital.

    A native of Crowley, he lived in Jennings and graduated from Jennings High School in 1959. He attended USL and McNeese State University. He was employed with Gulf States Utilities and Entergy as an operational coordinator. He was a past member of the BPOE Elks Lodge.

    Survivors include his wife, Carol Lavergne; three sons, Howard Scott Lavergne of Lake Charles, and Brad William Lavergne and Brian Cason Lavergne, both of Jennings; three brothers, Alan Lavergne of Grand Lake, Gary Lavergne of Sugarland, Texas and Dean Lavergne of Newark, N.J.; one sister, Mrs. Richard (Carolyn) Smith of Moss Bluff; and four grandchildren.

    Funeral services for Rufus LaVergne, 59, of Route 2, Lake Charles, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, in Hixson Funeral Home Chapel.

    The Rev. Frank Kelley will officiate assisted by the Rev. David Holton.

    Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park.

    A native of Mermentau, Mr. LaVergne had lived in Lake Charles for the past 33 years. He was a retired radio and television technician.

    Survivors include four sons, Rufus L. LaVergne of Jennings, Alan Wayne LaVergne of DeQuincy, Gary B. LaVergne of Houston, and Arthur Dean LaVergne of Saudi Arabia; one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Smith of Moss Bluff; three brothers, Forest LaVergne of Groves, Texas, Lawrence LaVergne of Sulphur, and Lewis LaVergne Jr. of Lake Charles, and nine grandchildren.

    JENNINGS - Funeral services for Mrs. Dulcey (Clement) Faulk, 57, will be at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 2, in Miguez Funeral Home Chapel.

    Rev. Wade Lormand, pastor of United Pentecostal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

    Mrs. Faulk died at 3:47 p.m. Monday in a Lake Charles hospital.

    She was a native of Crowley and was a Jennings area resident most of her life.

    Survivors include one son, Rufus Leon Lavergne of Jennings, and three grandchildren.

    Last Services For Frank Clement Are Conducted in Rayne

    Funeral services for Frank Clement, 46, a World war veteran, who died in the Veterans hospital in Alexandria at 10 a.m. Thursday, were held at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Rayne.

    Clement, a resident of Crowley, had been in the Alexandria hospital for the past two months, it was reported.

    Besides his wife, he is survived by two children. Interment followed in the Catholic cemetery at Rayne.

    Geesey-Ferguson of Crowley brought the remains to Crowley Thursday afternoon. They were in charge of the funeral.

    Mrs. C.S. Clement Succumbs On Tuesday

    Mrs. C.S. Clement, 55, a resident of northeast Crowley, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at a Lafayette hospital, and will be buried following services at 4 p.m. Wednesday from St. Joseph Catholic church at Rayne. Burial is to follow in the Rayne cemetery.

    But few details of the family could be learned; however, a daughter and two sons survive.

    The Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley is in charge of arrangements.
