    James W. Penuel, owner of Penuel Pharmacy at 3660 Central Ave., died Wednesday (Jan. 11, 1984). He was 59 and lived at 4259 Third Ave. S.

    Mrs. Penuel ran for mayor in 1968 and was past president of Pinellas County Pharmaceutical Society and the Suncoast District Pharmacy Association. He served on the legislative committee of the Florida Pharmacy Association.

    He received the A. H. Robbins award (Bowl of Hygeia) for outstanding community service in 1972. The same year he was Pharmacist of the Year for the Pinellas County Pharmacy Association. He worked with the Alpha Program and PAR.

    Mr. Penuel was a surgical technician with the Army during World War II.

    He was a member of Pasadena Baptist Church, a founder and former deacon of Maximo Baptist Church, and a 20-year and life member of Boca Ciega Kiwanis Club. He was Layman of the Year for the Kiwanis in 1972 and was Kiwanian of the Year in 1969.

    Born in Auburndale, he came here in 1954 from Tallahassee and graduated from the University of Florida with degrees in chemistry and pharmacy.

    Survivors include his wife Margaret; two sons, John H., St. Petersburg, and Dr. James W. Penuel Jr., North Fort Myers; his mother, Mrs. H. G. Penuel, and his sister, Mrs. A. J. Hedrick, both of Jacksonville, and two grandchildren.

    Friends may visit from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Kenfield Pasadena Avenue Chapel, where services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Bob Christie and Rev. Byron Twiggs officiating. Burial will follow in Royal Palm Cemetery. The family asks that contributions be made to Kiwanis Project Concern, 6810 10th Ave. N, St. Petersburg 33710.

    Margaret Grinaker Penuel, 80, of St. Petersburg, died Monday, January 23, 2006. She was born in Wedowee, AL and moved to St. Petersburg in 1956 from Gainesville, FL. She was a 1946 graduate of Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) with a Bachelor's degree in Education and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a 1949 graduate of the University of Florida with Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She was a Math and Science Teacher at Riviera Middle School and a member of Pasadena Baptist Church both in St. Petersburg.

    She is survived by two sons, Dr. James W. Penuel, Jr. of Fort Myers, Dr. John H. Penuel of Clyde, NC; four grandchildren, Evelyn, John, Christina, Alison and 1 great grandson, Harold James Bunce. She was predeceased by her husband, James W. Penuel, Sr., a brother, Dr. James Grinaker and a sister, Bettye Forsythe.

    PENUEL, Henry Grady, age 83, of Live Oak, passed away early Sunday, September 26. He was a Leon County Service Officer for the Dept. of Veteran's Affairs from inception in 1940 until his retirement in 1956 when he moved to Live Oak. He is survived by his widow: Pearl of Live Oak; 1 daughter: Mrs. Jack Hedrick of Jacksonville; 1 son: James W. Penuel of St. Petersburg, 1 sister: Mrs. Maye Wallace of Tampa; 3 grandchildren: Carol Hedrick of Jacksonville, James Jr. and John G. Penuel of St. Petersburg. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday morning, September 28, at 11:00 AM at the Graveside in the Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Charlie Webb officiating.     LIVE OAK - Pearl Penuel, 97, of Live Oak died Friday at Florida Christian Nursing Home in Jacksonville.

    The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

    A native of Sanford and resident of Live Oak for 25 years, she was a public school teacher. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Live Oak, Live Oak Garden Club, and American Legion Auxiliary.

    Survivors include a daughter, Mary Hedrick of Jacksonville; two sisters, Jewell Eide and Ruby Warren, both of Sanford; three grandchildren; and seven grandchildren.

    James W. Swain Dies Here at 75

    James William Swain, 75, died at 5:55 p m yesterday at his home, 450 St. Francis st, after a short illness.

    Swain was born in Cairo, Ill. on Oct 12, 1865, and came to Florida and settled at Lakeland with his parents in 1889. He remained at Lakeland until 1919, when he moved to Tallahassee.

    A retired mechanic, Swain took great interest in civic and church affairs, being a member of the Baptist church.

    His wife died in 1935, but he is survived by a son and four daughters. His son is Arthur F. Swain. The four daughters are: Miss Jewell Swain of Tallahassee, Mrs. H. G. Penuel of Crawfordville, Fla., Mrs. Alfred Warren of Vero Beach, Fla. and Mrs. D. Lee Baldwin of Titusville, Fla.

    Swain is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Three of his brothers live in Atlanta, while his sister, Mrs. A. M. Wright, lives in Tampa.

    The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p m tomorrow at the Culley chapel. Following the service the interment will be held at the Oakland cemetery.

    Final Services For Mrs. Swain

    Funeral services for Mrs. J. W. Swain, well known Tallahassee woman, will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock from the Methodist church. Interment will be in Oakland cemetery.

    The Rev. F. H. Patterson, presiding elder of the Tallahassee district, Methodist church, and the Rev. Luther Rice Christie, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate.

    Mrs. Swain died early Tuesday afternoon following an illness of two weeks. She had been in failing health for several months.

    She moved here in 1919 with her husband from Ft. Pierce. Mr. Swain retired from active business several years ago. Mrs. Swain was born March 28, 1865, in Missouri.

    She is survived by her husband, four daughters, Miss Jewel Swain, member of the Leon high school faculty, Mrs. H. G. Penuel also of Tallahassee, Mrs. D. L. Baldwin of Titusville and Mrs. Ruby S. Horton of Ft. Pierce and one son, Arthur Swain, well known local business man. Two brothers, Fred Shields of Blountstown and Sam Shields of Woodville; one sister, Mrs. B. F. Raybon of Chattahoochee and seven grandchildren survive.

    Mrs. Swain was a member of the Trinity Methodist church. She died at her home on W. St. Francis street.
