    John Johnson Rites Scheduled In Jayton

    JAYTON (Special) - Services for John Martin Johnson, 45, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Jayton United Methodist Church. Johnson died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday in Methodist Hospital in Lubbock after an extended illness.

    Officiating will be the Rev. Tommy Ewing, pastor. Burial will be in Jayton Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee Funeral Home of Rotan.

    Pallbearers will be Billy Charles Dibrell, Floyd Hall, Monroe Davis, W. E. Walker, Gordon Hamilton, Ray Smith, Jim Montgomery and Gordon Cheyne.

    A native of the Draw community in Lynn County, Johnson moved to Jayton in 1930 with his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Luther Johnson.

    He was married to Marry Lynn Harrison in Spur in 1945. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy and an employe of General Crude Oil Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jayton and was serving on the Stewardship Committee.

    Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Harry Kaercher of Howard Air Force Base in the Panama Canal Zone, Beverly of Lubbock and Jonnie of the home; a son, George Martin of the home; his parents; three sisters, Mrs. Ladell McAteer and Mrs. Richard Brownlee, both of Jayton, and Mrs. Mahlon Johnson of Red River, N. M.; and one grandson.

    Mary Lynn Harrison Johnson, a sweet and godly woman, loved by many, passed away May 24, 2020, from natural causes. She was 92 years old. She was the daughter of George and Virginia Harrison and was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 3, 1928. She married John Martin Johnson August 11, 1945. They were married almost 25 years before his death July 1, 1970.

    Mary Lynn received her B.A. degree from McMurry University. She was employed by McMurry University, and later by Pride Refining, retiring at the age of 70.

    Mary Lynn is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Martin. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Kaercher and husband, Harry; Beverly Caddell and husband, Dave; Jonnie Edinburgh and husband, Kirk; and son George Johnson and wife, Karen.

    She is also survived by grandchilden Joe Kaercher and wife, Carol Ann; Ron Kaercher; John Caddell and wife, Brandy; Charles Caddell and wife, Misty; Laquetta Shane and husband David Haley; Virginia Edinburgh; and Bo and Will Johnson, as well as great-grandchildren, Rebecca Parvaresh and husband Jami; Amanda Alexander and husband, Tyson; Cody Carter and wife, Kayla; Zane and Zoey Caddell; Jackson and Harper Caddell; Jamison Shane; and one great-great-grandchild, Prairie Beth Alexander, and honorary great-grandchildren Christian, Lynleigh, and Callen Wallace.

    Funeral services for Mary Lynn Harrison Johnson were held Friday, May 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Jayton, Texas. Visitation was scheduled for 11:30 a.m., with internment to be at the Jayton Cemetery.
