    Private family services will be held Saturday for Dick Strite who passed on August 6th in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a lengthy illness. He was 60 years old.

    A native of Santa Cruz, Dick attended local schools graduating from Santa Cruz High School in 1964. He served in the National Guard. Dick was employed by Pacific Bell Telephone for 29 years, retiring in 1994. He moved to Central Point, Oregon in 1994 where he resumed working in telecommunications. He has lived the past six years in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His hobby and passion was fishing, especially a memorable trip spent fishing in Alaska.

    He is survived by his daughters Julie Bennett of El Dorado Hills, CA, Shelly Fleming of Las Vegas, NV; granddaughters Jordan & Cameron and grandsons Gage & Gavin of Las Vegas; his mother, Frances Day of Santa Cruz; brothers Ed Strite of Sutherlin, OR, Ron Strite and Joe Strite of Santa Cruz; and his companion Ginger Asmun and her family. Mr. Strite is also survived by uncles and aunts Wayne & Marie Thorton of Santa Cruz, Lorrayne & Albert Lane of Ben Lomond and Ella Thorton of Santa Cruz and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Edward Strite Sr., cousins Larry Strite and Anthony Oakley.

    Interment will be in Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Dick's memory to the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Cruz, 543 Center St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Santa Cruz Memorial-Mission Chapel.

The Holy Rosary was recited at Norman's Family Chapel Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. Interment in Oakwood Memorial Park, Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz. Contributions preferred to Paget's Disease Foundation, 165 Cadman Plaza East, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11201.

    Ernest P. Ford Rites Wednesday

    Services will be Wednesday in Vallejo for Ernest P. Ford, 86, who died Friday in a local convalescent hospital.

    A native of Greenfield, Texas, he had lived in Vallejo most of his life, where he was a self-employed barber for more than 50 years. He moved to Anchor Bay upon retirement and came to Santa Cruz four years ago.

    An Army veteran of World War 1, he was a member of American Legion 104; Moose Lodge; Last Man's Club, all in Vallejo.

    Survivors include his wife, Irene; a son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Olivia Ford, all of Santa Cruz; three sisters, Nora Fewell, Floy Morrison and Virgie Sims, and a brother, Tom Woody, all of Texas; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Vallejo at the Wiggins Funeral Home, 524 Capitol St.

    Interment will be at the Sunrise Cemetery in Vallejo.
