Mr. Bernie A. Brothers, 67, residing at 3713 Laughton, Fort Worth, Texas, passed away December 7, 1972 at 1:30 p.m. He was driving his car in Seminary South, Ft. Worth, when he had a fatal heart attack. Evidently he was aware this was an unusual seizure because he pulled the car up to the curb, turned off the ignition, then slumped to the seat, where upon the ambulance found him, after being summoned by a passerby. Thus, his alertness probably avoided an accident.

Funeral services were held at the Highland Church of Christ, 6262 South Freeway, Ft. Worth, Saturday, December 9th, 1972, at 2:00 p.m. Officiating ministers were Mr. J. Woodie Holden and Mr. Loren Geiger. Burial was in Laurel Land Cemetery, under the direction of Ray Crowder Funeral Home.

Bernie was a devout Christian and radiated this spirit in his everyday existance. He was an ordained Deacon at the Highland Church of Christ, wherein he served loyally and fervently. He was born July 2, 1905 at Waco, Texas; moved to Seymour in 1907 where he married Vera Ellen Ross on June 5, 1926. to this union were born three children (one daughter, and two sons). This family moved to Vallejo, California in 1944 where Mr. and Mrs. Brothers each worked in the U.S. Navy Yard on Mare Island. They returned to Seymour in 1946. Later they purchased a farm and moved to Joshua, in 1952, after which Mr. Brothers purchased and operated a Washerteria, and moved to Forth Worth in 1957. Their recent home is located at 3713 Laughton, Ft. Worth. He was survived by his widow, Vera, a daughter, Mrs. Dolores Petty of Forth Worth, two sons, Eidsel and Royce of Joshua, and seven grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Maudie Nix of Seymour, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Brothers wealth of friends was manifested in the numerous amount of floral offerings, which were arranged on three large arches extending across the entire chancel. The sanctuary was filled to capacity with those many friends, expressing their deep sympathy to the family and indicating their love for this good fellowman.

The bereaved family find solace in these words:

"There is a Home that lies beyond -
    And past its golden door
Awaits the one who's now away
    Not lost-just gone before.
And in that Home that lies beyond
    The Master will prepare
A place for us, and when He calls
We'll meet our loved one there."
