Obituary:

Robert Malcolm Green, 75, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bryan from a stroke following heart surgery. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, December 2nd at First Baptist Church of Navasota with interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery. Rev. Clyde Larrabee will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Malcolm was born on September 10, 1940, in Pittsburg, Texas and was raised in Cisco, Texas. He received degrees from Cisco High School in 1959 and Cisco Junior College in 1961, and briefly attended University of Texas at Austin. Malcolm graduated from the University of Houston in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Commerce. He worked for Shell Oil Company for 33 years in Midland and Houston, primarily as a petrophysical and economic analyst. Malcolm was a Red Brangus cattle breeder from 1990-2006.

He lived in Houston for 24 years before becoming a resident of Navasota in 1990. He received great pleasure from service to his community throughout his life. He was a leader in local Houston civic associations and served as a youth softball and soccer coach for many years. Malcolm was honored to serve in a variety of positions on the Navasota Planning and Zoning Commission, the Navasota Historic Preservation Committee, and the Grimes County Historical Commission. He was also a board member of the American Red Brangus Association.

Malcolm was very supportive of the Navasota Independent School District Education Foundation, where he was a founding director. In Grimes County, he was also a founding director and vice chairman of the Two Rivers Heritage Foundation, an organization dedicated to preserving buildings, documents, and other historical artifacts. Malcolm was also an active member of the Grimes County Republican Party where he served in a number of leadership capacities including chairman from 2006-2009.

Malcolm had a life-long love of anything with an engine and enjoyed restoring and rebuilding cars. He had a passion for cooking, barbecue (cooking, competing, and judging), guns, football, history, genealogy, and politics. He spent many hours perfecting his recipes, writing his own cookbooks, and researching his family history. No one ever saw Malcolm without his cowboy hat and his boots. His friends will remember his passion for politics, which was core to his conservative beliefs and values. He knew no stranger. He was a great and faithful friend, and maintained longstanding friendships, especially with his Cisco High School classmates.

Malcolm is predeceased by his parents James Green and Mabel Dee Faulk Green, son Robert Malcolm Green II, brothers Gene Green, Martin Green, and his sister Jan Green Mueller. He is survived by his wife Martha Robison Green and his two daughters Susan Elizabeth Green Scott and former son-in-law James Scott, and Julia Arlene Green Morrison and her husband Martin Morrison. His loving grandchildren include Susan's children Sarah Scott and Matthew Scott; Julia's children Nicholas Cubides, Sebastian Cubides, Montgomery Morrison, and Maxwell Morrison; and Robert's daughter Jessica Palmer Whitehead, her husband Tim and their daughter Adelinn Whitehead. He is also survived by his stepchildren Foster Johnson, Alec Johnson and Melissa Johnson, and by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Myrna Graham, Eric Green, Jaclyn Green, Jessica Green Vance, Paige Mueller Franklin, and others.

MISSOURI CITY - Ila Mae Hamilton Woody, 81, of Missouri City, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1993.

Survivors: son, Larry Don Woody of Victoria; daughter, Jayne Woody Magee of Pearland; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Family visitation: 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Garmany and Carden Funeral Home, Missouri City.
