    Don L. Vandiver, 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 19, 2011.

    Born in Saluda County, South Carolina, Don attended Attapulgus High School in Georgia. After finishing high school Don served proudly as a United States Marine from 1952 - 1955. Don worked for many years as a propane technician for Suburban Gas, Pyrofax, and Florida Gas companies. Don also worked for the Coca Cola Company, the Tallahassee Democrat, and the Southeastern Blood Bank for 8 years until he finally retired.

    Don was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed sharing his passion for fishing and camping with his family. Above all else, Don was a devoted father and a dedicated friend.

    He is preceded in death by his wife Gladys.

    He is forever remembered by his loving daughters, Sandra (Roger) Gray and Donna Zingale; grandchildren, Angela Zingale, Elizabeth Perez, Bradley and Christopher Mazzella; great-grandchildren, Eden and Peter Perez.

    A gathering of family and friends will be held at Culley's MeadowWood Riggins Rd Chapel on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

    A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Big Bend Hospice or Meals On Wheels.

    Arrangements are under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Tallahassee, FL.

    BAINBRIDGE, Ga. - Carl P. Vandiver, 77, of Attapulgus, Ga., died Sunday at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

    Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Attapulgus Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Attapulgus Cemetery.

    He was a native of Comanche County, Texas, and had lived in Attapulgus for 45 years. He was a retired building contractor and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Attapulgus Masonic Lodge No. 225 and Hasan Temple of Shrine.

    Survivors include his wife, Mattie Clark Vandiver of Attapulgus; four sons, Kenny Vandiver of Long Beach, Calif., Don Vandiver of Tallahassee, James Phelps of Bardstown, Ky., and Robert Phelps of Augusta, Ga.; three daughters, Virginia Baker of Warner Robins, Ga., Carolyn Humerick of Newport, N.C. and Mary Helms, Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Lloyd Vandiver of Amarillo, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

    ATTAPULGUS, Ga. - Mrs. Estelle Sellers Vandiver, 62, died in Bainbridge Memorial Hospital Sunday after a lengthy illness.

    A native of Jackson County, N. C., she had lived in Attapulgus for the past 23 years. She was a member of the Attapulgus Methodist Church and Attapuglus Chapter No. 302 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

    Survivors include her husband, Carl Powe Vandiver; two sons, Kenny C. Vandiver, Lakewood, Calif. and Don L. Vandiver, Perry, Fla.

    Funeral arrangements were handled by Cox Funeral Home.

    Charlie Vandiver Rites Set Friday

    GORMAN - Funeral for Charlie Dean Vandiver, 89, of 312 W. 37th in Amarillo, a former Gorman resident, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Gorman.

    Andy Moore, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Gorman Cemetery with Higginbotham Funeral Home in charge.

    Mr. Vandiver died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday in Amarillo.

    His wife, Fannie, died in 1966.

    Survivors include three sons, Curtis and Chester, both of Amarillo, and Carl of Attapulgus, Ga.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

    Vandiver Rites Today in Gorman

    GORMAN (RNS) - Funeral for Mrs. Fannie Jane Vandiver, 80, of Amarillo, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Gorman Church of Christ with Audy Moore, minister, officiating.

    Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Comanche County with arrangements by Higginbotham Funeral Home of Gorman.

    Mrs. Vandiver, a former resident of Gorman, died Thursday morning in Amarillo.

    She was born Oct. 13, 1885, in Comanche County. She married D. V. Vandiver Dec. 2, 1901 in Abilene.

    She was a member of the Church of Christ.

    Survivors include her husband, of Amarillo; three sons, Carl, Chester and Loyd; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
