    Services to honor the life of Richard "Don" Jones, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He passed away peacefully following a brief illness on November 21, 2010.

    Don was born in Hillsborough, Texas on September 9, 1920 to Hassie Melton Jones, and John Jones. Don graduated from Hillcrest High School in Dallas, Texas, attended SMU and served in the Air Force during World War Two. Don retired after 53 years on employment with Mutual of Omaha, working his way up from the mail room to his position of administration. He retired in 1992. During his tenure, he was a mentor and role model to many young employees and guided them through their own successful futures. Don will be remembered by his family, friends and associates as an honest, kind man with great integrity. He was always willing to support family and friends. He enjoyed the beauty of nature, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Reading, watching the success of his trees mature, refinishing antique furniture were just a few of the many hobbies he enjoyed. Don looked forward to family vacations and celebrating Holidays at the family farm in Central Texas.

    Don was predeceased in death by his parents, brother and daughter, Leigh Simpson.

    He is survived by his wife, Virginia Jones; sister, Helen Calhoun; sons, Richard D. Jones, Jr. and Dudley Kubin; grandchildren, Angela Miltello and her spouse Carlos Cherigo, Stephanie Kubin, Michelle Kubin, Austin Kubin from Austin, Texas and great-grandchildren, Scout Starrett, Mia Militello and Matthew Cherigo from Dallas, Texas.

    The family will receive visitors from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2010 at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 23rd beginning at 12 noon.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to American Canter Society or Lupus Foundation of America.
