    Obituary:

    Frank F. Drgac, 78, of Cooks Point, died Wednesday evening, August 14, at his residence after a lengthy illness.

    Mr. Drgac was born November 29, 1912, in Seymour, the twelfth child of the late Joseph D. and Annie Sebesta Drgac. A longtime resident of Burleson County, he has lived in the Cooks Point community since 1913, where his parents, five brothers and seven sisters moved to farm and ranch. He was baptized and confirmed at the Cooks Point Brethren Church. He married Lottie Clara Hovorak on December 27, 1937, in Caldwell. The Rev. H.E. Beseda, Sr., performed the ceremony. He was a member and served on the board of directors of the SPJST Lodge #186 in Caldwell. He was a member of the Caldwell Mutual Aid Society. He was a farmer and rancher who received the Outstanding Conservation Farmer award from the Burleson-Lee Soil Conservation District in 1964 and in 1971. Mr. Drgac also received the Fort Worth Press Conservationist of the Year award in 1971. He was a life member of the Caldwell Brethren Church. He is remembered for his love of the land, farming, and ranching, gardening and playing dominoes.

    He is preceded in death by his parents; seven sisters, Annie Hronek, Lydia Kubena, Albina Meyer, Milady Kubena, Libbie Chaloupka, Elizabeth Luksa, Olga Urbanovsky; four brothers, Walter, William, Johnnie and Joe Drgac; son-in-law, Ernest S. Homeyer.

    Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lottie C. Drgac of Cooks Point; two daughters, Carolyn D. Homeyer Vavra and husband J.D. Vavra of Caldwell, Lorene J. Bormann and Husband Alvin P. Bormann of College Station; four grandchildren, Craig and wife, Rhonda Homeyer of Caldwell, Carl Homeyer of Caldwell, David and wife, Penny Bormann of Bryan, Diane Bormann of College Station; one great grandchild, Chandler Allan Homeyer of Caldwell; one brother, Edd J. and wife Fannie Drgac of Cooks Point, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 17, from Caldwell Brethren Church with the Rev. Richard E. Stone officiating. Interment followed in the Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell.

    Memorials may be made to Caldwell Brethren Church, American Cancer Society or Hospice of Brazos County, 1403 Memorial Drive, Bryan, Texas, 77802.

    Pallbearers were Billy Albright, James Drgac, Lamar Drgac, Joe Hovorak, A.G. Hronek, Franklin Sebesta and Ben Trcalek, Jr.

    Honorary pallbearers were George Chemelar, Hubert Drgac, Jack Huback, John Kostohtyz, Marvin Kubena, Louis Loehr, Robert M. Logan, H.F. Maker, Leo Maresh, Vince Patranella, Marty Tharp and Robert Wine.

    Milday "Lottie" Hovorak Drgac, 92, of Cooks Point, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, February 19, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of life service is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, at Cooks Point United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell, under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Home of Caldwell. A visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, February 21, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m.

    Lottie was born February 6, 1919, to Joe F. and Albina Luksa Hovorak near Caldwell. She attended Cooks Point Public School and spent her entire life in the Caldwell and Cooks Point area.

    Lottie married Frank F. Drgac on December 27, 1937, in Caldwell. They were married for 53 years. She worked alongside Frank and was a good steward of the land as they farmed, ranched, and raised poultry. Lottie always enjoyed being outdoors on her land whether it was picking dewberries, gardening, fishing or checking her cattle. She especially enjoyed her great-grandchildren and was affectionately called "Grandma" by her family and close friends. Grandma loved to bake kolaches and make jelly and shared both with many. Her favorite past time was playing dominoes with her friends and family.

    Lottie was a member of the Cooks Point United Methodist church, the United Methodist Women's Group, the Burleson County Czech Heritage Society, and SPJST Lodge # 186.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a sister, Martha Trcalek; and a brother, Raymond Hovorak.

    Lottie is survived by daughters and son-in-law; Carolyn Homeyer Brinkmann of Caldwell, Lorene and Alvin Bormann of College Station; grandchildren, Craig and Rhonda Homeyer of Caldwell, Carl and Sheila Homeyer of Haskell, David and Penny Bormann of Edmond, Okla., and Diane and Scott Copeland of McKinney; great grandchildren, Chandler, Megan, Madison, Abby, Ernie, and Tess Homeyer, Andrew and Brett Bormann, Kyle, Kristen and Kendall Copeland; sister-in-law, Doris Hovorak; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

    Joseph Drgac Is Claimed by Death Sunday

    Prominent Cook's Point Farmer Was One of County's Original Czech Settlers

    Joseph D. Drgac, 69, prominent farmer of the Cook's Point community, died at his home Sunday night of a heart ailment. He had been ill several days.

    Funeral services were held Tuesday with Rev. H.E. Beseda of Caldwell and Rev. Joseph Hegar of Temple officiating, assisted by Rev. Ernest Deutsch of Bay City. Interment, under the direction of Harvey-Schiller, was made in the Slovak cemetery, four miles south of Cook's Point.

    Mr. Drgac was born at Wesley in Washington County, October 28, 1870. He had been a resident of Burleson County 64 years and was one of the original Czech settlers in this county. He was a charter member and one of the founders of the Cook's Point Moravian church, a member of the S.P.J.S.T. and W.O.W. lodges and a former trustee of the Cook's Point school district. His wife preceded him in death eight years ago.

    Surviving Mr. Drgac are thirteen children, Walter Drgac of Wall, William H. Drgac, Joseph B. Drgac, Edward J. Drgac, Frank F. Drgac, John F. Drgac, Mrs. Adolph Hronek, Mrs. John Kubena, Miss Albina Drgac, Mrs. Frank Kubena, Mrs. Wilton Chaloupka, Mrs. Rudolph Luksa, and Mrs. Emil Urbanovsky, all of Burleson county; three brothers, J.K. Drgac of Cook's Point, F.B. Drgac of Caldwell and Peter Drgac of Rosenberg, and three sisters, Miss Anna Sebesta, Mrs. Frank Bednar and Mrs. J.J. Skrivanek, all of this county.

    Cooks Point Lady Citizen Aged 60 Died Friday

    The Funeral services of Mrs. Jos. D. Drgac, who died at her home in Cooks Point, Friday, August 5, 1932, at the age of sixty years were held August 6, 1932. Rev. F.H. Horak conducted the services.

    Mrs. Drgac was born at Wesley, Washington County, February 29, 1872, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Sebesta. At the age of 6 years she came with her parents to Burleson County to make her home. When she was nineteen she was married to Mr. Jos. D. Drgac and to this union thirteen children were born, all of whom are living. There were six sons and seven daughters, Walter J., William, Joe, Edward, Frank, John, Mrs. Adolph Hronek, Mrs. John Kubena, Mrs. Wilton Chaloupka, and Misses Milady, Albina, Ella and Olga.
