    Funeral services for Lamar Drgac, 78, of Caldwell are set for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Cooks Point Brethren Church, with Pastor Delbert Price officiating, where his life will be honored and celebrated. Interment will follow at the Cooks Point Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Mr. Drgac passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell, Texas

    Lamar was born December 29, 1940, in Caldwell to Johnnie and Ella (Machann) Drgac. He attended Cooks Point School through 8th grade, graduated from Caldwell High School in 1958, and attended Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. Lamar married Barbara Vajdak in 1960 after meeting her at the Hus School Encampment in Caldwell. Lamar owned and operated a dairy farm for many years. He spent his entire life as a farmer and rancher, and he retired from Alcoa after working 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing dominoes, and living on the property that has been in his family since 1911. Lamar was a member of Cooks Point Brethren Church and served faithfully on the board of Elders.

    Lamar is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Ella Drgac.

    He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara; daughters, Denice Drgac Kemp and husband Randy of Salado, Dana Drgac Mondrik and husband James of Cameron; sons, Layne Drgac and wife Nicki of Caldwell; sister, Beverly Drgac Mahlmann and husband Albert of Sierra Vista, Arizona; brother, Dennis Drgac of Caldwell; brother-in-law, Edward Vajdak and wife Bess of Centerville; granddaughters, McKenzi Mondrik Broussard and husband John of Cameron, Maeson Mondrik Turner and husband James of Bryan; grandson, Dylan Drgac of Houston; granddaughters, Daleigh and Delayni Drgac of Caldwell; great-grandchildren, Beckett and Britton Broussard of Cameron; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family that were very special to him.

    Pallbearers are Mike Denio, Randy Denio, Wayne Drgac, John Broussard, James Turner and Dylan Drgac. Honorary Pallbearers are Vance McManus, Alvin Bormann, Jim Denio, and the Cooks Point Brethren Church Board of Elders.

    The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Cooks Point Community Center , 300 FM 1362 South, or to Cooks Point VFD.

    Funeral services for Johnnie J. Drgac of Caldwell will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Caldwell Brethern Church. Drgac, 53, died Thursday in a Bryan hospital.

    The Rev. John J. Bravenec of the Caldwell Brethern Church will officiate. burial will be in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Bowers-Harvey-Schiller Funeral Home of Caldwell.

    Drgac was born in Burleson County June 27, 1914, and was a lifetime resident of Cooks Point community. He was a dairy farmer, a member of the SPJST Lodge of Cooks Point and a member of the Caldwell Brethern Church.

    Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ella M. Drgac; two sons, Lamar Drgac of Caldwell and Dennis Drgac of Cooks Point; one daughter, Mrs. Albert D. (Beverly) Mahlmann; two grandchildren; four brothers, Walter Drgac of San Angelo, William Drgac, Ed Drgac, Frank Drgac, all of Cooks Point; and six sisters, Mrs. Otto Meyer of Cameron, Mrs. John Kubena, Mrs. Frank Kubena, Mrs. Wilton Chaloupka, Mrs. Rudolph Luksa, and Mrs. Emil Urbanavsky, all of Cooks Point.

    Ella Drgac, age 67, of Route 3, Caldwell, Texas, died suddenly Sunday evening, March 20 in Burleson County Hospital.

    Funeral services for Ella Drgac were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 22 in the Caldwell Brethren Church with the Rev. Daniel J. Marek and the Rev. Henry E. Beseda officiating. Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery.

    A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Phillips-Luckey Chapel led by the Rev. Daniel J. Marek.

    She was born December 22, 1920 in Burleson County to the late Tom Machann and Helen Fitzgerald Machann. A lifetime resident of Burleson County, she was married to Johnnie J. Drgac November 22, 1938 in Caldwell. They made their home in the Cooks Point coummunity. He preceded her in death May 16, 1968.

    Sister Drgac was a homemaker and a member of the Caldwell Brethren Church. She was very active in all work of the church. She was a Sunday School teacher, worked with Vacation Bible School and active in the Christian Sisters women of the church. She was special to all who knew her.

    Survivors include two sons, Lamar Drgac (and wife, Barbara) of Cameron; Dennis W. Drgac of Caldwell; daughter, Mrs. Albert D. (Beverly) Mahlmann of Caldwell; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; brother, Joe Machann of Pasadena, Texas; three sisters, Albina Kubin of Caldwell, Marie Zawadzke of Gause and Mrs. Edwin (Margaret) Zawadzke of Cameron.

    She was also preceded in death by a brother, John T. Machann and one sister, Mrs. Milady Hovorak.

    Pallbearers were Donald Machann, Jim Denio, Henry Hovorak, Frankie Kubin, Alvin Bormann, Billy Allbright, Morris Zawadzke and Hubert Drgac.

    Honorary pallbearers were Thomas Cannon, Oscar Weeber, Raymond Hovorak, Melvin Hronek, A.G. Hronek, Conrad Machann, Larry Zawadzke, Andy Young, Louis Kokes and J.D. Drgac.

    Joseph Drgac Is Claimed by Death Sunday

    Prominent Cook's Point Farmer Was One of County's Original Czech Settlers

    Joseph D. Drgac, 69, prominent farmer of the Cook's Point community, died at his home Sunday night of a heart ailment. He had been ill several days.

    Funeral services were held Tuesday with Rev. H.E. Beseda of Caldwell and Rev. Joseph Hegar of Temple officiating, assisted by Rev. Ernest Deutsch of Bay City. Interment, under the direction of Harvey-Schiller, was made in the Slovak cemetery, four miles south of Cook's Point.

    Mr. Drgac was born at Wesley in Washington County, October 28, 1870. He had been a resident of Burleson County 64 years and was one of the original Czech settlers in this county. He was a charter member and one of the founders of the Cook's Point Moravian church, a member of the S.P.J.S.T. and W.O.W. lodges and a former trustee of the Cook's Point school district. His wife preceded him in death eight years ago.

    Surviving Mr. Drgac are thirteen children, Walter Drgac of Wall, William H. Drgac, Joseph B. Drgac, Edward J. Drgac, Frank F. Drgac, John F. Drgac, Mrs. Adolph Hronek, Mrs. John Kubena, Miss Albina Drgac, Mrs. Frank Kubena, Mrs. Wilton Chaloupka, Mrs. Rudolph Luksa, and Mrs. Emil Urbanovsky, all of Burleson county; three brothers, J.K. Drgac of Cook's Point, F.B. Drgac of Caldwell and Peter Drgac of Rosenberg, and three sisters, Miss Anna Sebesta, Mrs. Frank Bednar and Mrs. J.J. Skrivanek, all of this county.

    Cooks Point Lady Citizen Aged 60 Died Friday

    The Funeral services of Mrs. Jos. D. Drgac, who died at her home in Cooks Point, Friday, August 5, 1932, at the age of sixty years were held August 6, 1932. Rev. F.H. Horak conducted the services.

    Mrs. Drgac was born at Wesley, Washington County, February 29, 1872, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Sebesta. At the age of 6 years she came with her parents to Burleson County to make her home. When she was nineteen she was married to Mr. Jos. D. Drgac and to this union thirteen children were born, all of whom are living. There were six sons and seven daughters, Walter J., William, Joe, Edward, Frank, John, Mrs. Adolph Hronek, Mrs. John Kubena, Mrs. Wilton Chaloupka, and Misses Milady, Albina, Ella and Olga.
