    Robert L. Stokes, "Big Robert", as he was known by family and friends, died peacefully Sunday morning, Oct. 5, 2014, at the The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. Services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Jay Lockhart officiating.

    Burial will be in Cathedral in the Pines under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

    Robert was a member of West Erwin Church of Christ and Gladewater Ex-students Association. He was born on Aug. 4, 1927, in Gladewater to Charlie and Wardie Stokes. After graduation from Gladewater High School, he joined the Merchant Marine. Completion of service found him traveling to Houston to attend mortuary school where he became the youngest certified mortician in the state of Texas. His 1944 marriage to Patricia Ann Cloud produced three daughters, Jann, Ann and Isha. In 1955, he began his career in the oil service industry with Haliburton, Welex, Trainer Surveys and Go Wireline Services.

    In 1963, he moved the family to Luling and started a wireline service company, which he sold in 1978. "Big Robert" and Patsy then moved back to Tyler to start Heritage Wireline Services with his son-in-law, Paul Myrick.

    Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Cloud Stokes; parents, Charlie and Wardie Stokes; and brothers, Jack and Norman Stokes.

    Survivors include daughters, Jann Bogenschutz Salyer and husband Fred, of Longview, Ann Binford and husband Weston, of Austin, and Isha Myrick and husband Paul, of Tyler; grandchildren, Jennifer Diaz and husband Chaco, Jena Darrah and husband Nick, Jared Bogenschutz and wife Tina, Trey Binford and wife Lale, Jason Binford and wife Lauren, Amber Denny and husband Matt, Justin Binford, Tyler Binford, Kristi Wiggins and husband Curtis, Angie Daughtry and husband Brad, Cindy Myrick, Robert Myrick and wife Kelly and Paul Wesley Myrick and wife Elizabeth; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, David Knotts, of Shreveport, La., and George Cloud, of Lake Devernia; special friends and caretakers, Edward Reese, Ronnie Calloway and Darlene Cook; numerous nieces and nephews; and hundreds of friends.

    Robert loved his family and never met a stranger. We will miss hearing his whistling, his beautiful singing, the special little things he did for each one of us, the wonderful pickles he made, his special Christmas books and his red socks. We love you. God now has a very special angel.

    Grandsons Jared Bogenschutz, Trey Binford, Jason Binford, Justin Binford, Tyler Binford, Robert Myrick, Paul Wesley Myrick, Curtis Wiggins and Brad Daughtry will serve as pallbearers.

    Visitation will be on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, 75701.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of Robert's favorite charities: The Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler 75701; Christian Homes and Family Services, 5476 Hollytree Drive, Tyler, 75703; or West Erwin Church of Christ Benevolence Center, 420 W.     Funeral services for Patricia (Patsy) Cloud Stokes of Tyler are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2006, at the Stewart Family Funeral Home chapel with Jay Lockhart and Dean Brookshire officiating.

    Burial will follow at Cathedral of the Pines Cemetery under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

    Mrs. Stokes passed away Saturday, July 1, 2006, at East Texas Medical Center. She was born on Jan. 31, 1927, in Louisiana to Sam Cloud and Isha Adkins Cloud. She was married 59 years to her beloved husband, Robert Stokes. Mrs. Stokes was a member of West Erwin Church of Christ, Gladewater Former Students Association, and worked with the West Erwin Church of Christ Food Ministry. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed shopping, sewing, traveling and caring for her family.

    Mrs. Stokes leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Robert Stokes of Tyler; her children, Jann Salyer and son-in-law Fred of Lake Cherokee, Ann Binford and son-in-law Weston of Austin, Isha Myrick and son-in-law Paul of Tyler.

    She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer and Chacho Diaz of Longview, Jena and Nick Darragh of Longview, Jared and Tina Bogenschutz of Longview, Trey and Lalé Binford of Austin, Jason and Lauren Binford of Dallas, Amber, Justin and Tyler Binford of Austin, Kristi and Curtis Wiggins of Tyler, Angie and Brad Daughtry of Tyler, Robert and Kelly Myrick of Tyler, Paul Wesley and Elizabeth Myrick of Tyler, and Cindy Myrick of Fort Worth. Her great-grandchildren are Parker and Addison Daughtry, Statton and Maddox Wiggins, Easton and Avery Myrick, Dennis and Melissa Binford, Preston Binford, Daphne and Kooper Bogenschutz, Trevor, Alayna and Aidan Diaz, and Kayla Darragh.

    She also leaves her sister, Audrey Knotts and husband David of White Oak, and her brother, George Cloud and wife, Barbara of Gladewater. Additionally, Mrs. Stokes is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

    Pallbearers are grandsons, Trey Binford, Jason Binford, Justin Binford, Tyler Binford, Robert Myrick, Paul Wesley Myrick and Jared Bogenschutz.

    Her family would like to extend special thanks to her loving caretaker, Margaret Robinson, and to Dr. Wayne Propst for his attentive care through the years.

    The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2006, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, 75703.

    Sam Cloud Of Gladewater Dies; Rites Saturday

    GLADEWATER, Tex. - Funeral rites for Sam Cloud, 58, of Gladewater, who died unexpectedly last night in a local hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stokes Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Irby D. Bates, assisted by the Rev. Dean Brookshire, will officiate and burial will be in Gregg Memorial Gardens.

    Mr. Cloud was a member of the Baptist Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was a native of Forest Hill, La. and moved to Gladewater in 1931 from Cotton Valley, La.

    He was retired from the Magnolia Oil Co. last year after 36 years service with the firm.

    Survivors include a son, George Cloud of White Oak; two daughters, Mrs. David Knotts of Magnolia, Ark. and Mrs. Robert Stokes of Tyler, Tex.; three brothers, Martin of Henderson, Tex., Charlie of Pine Prairie, La., Mack of Forest Hill; three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Holeman of Pine Prairie, Mrs. Lewis Campbell of Alexandria and Mrs. Mayo Henderson of Orange, Tex., and nine grandchildren.

    GLADEWATER, Texas - Funeral services for Sam Cloud, 58, were held here Saturday, followed by interment in Gregg County Memorial Gardens. Cloud, a native of Forest Hill, died Thursday after being stricken with a heart attack Wednesday.

    He was a retired employe of Magnolia Oil Co. and had lived in Gladewater 29 years.

    Survivors include a son, George Cloud of White Oak, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. David Knotts of Magnolia, Ark., and Mrs. Robert Stokes of Tyler, Texas; three brothers, Martin Cloud of Henderson, Texas, Charles Cloud of Pine Prairie and Matt Cloud of Forest Hill; three sisters, Mrs. Lewis Campbell of Alexandria, Mrs. Matt Holman of Pine Prairie and Mrs. Mayo Henderson of Orange, Texas, and nine grandchildren.

    GLADEWATER - Graveside services for Isha A. Cloud, 90, of Gladewater will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ellis Hayden officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gladewater. Mrs. Cloud died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at a Gladewater nursing home.

    She was born Oct. 28, 1908, in Cotton Valley, La. She was a Baptist and a retired fur saleslady.

    Mrs. Cloud is survived by two daughters, Audrey Knotts of Gladewater and Patricia Stokes of Tyler; one son, George H. Cloud of Gladewater; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lillian Bigham of White Oak.

    Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today, June 23, at the funeral home.
