    MACON - Daniel Vance Bumgardner passed away March 21, 2009. Memorial services will be held 3P.M. Thursday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Dr. Neal Wall and Rev. Shane Green will be officiating.

    Mr. Bumgardner was the son of the late Fred and Bonnie Jean Bumgardner. He was a member of Forest Hill United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Christian Living Sunday School Class. He served on the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of Central Georgia. He was a member of the Wood-Badge Staff in Atlanta and Macon. He received the Silver Beaver and Vigil Honor awards, and was a former assistant Scout Master. Mr. Bumgardner was a United States Marine for 22 years serving during Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was a lifetime member of DAV, and had 34 years of experience as a Utility Contractor. Mr. Bumgardner was involved in local politics and was an officer in the Middle Georgia Auburn Alumni, was active in the Auburn Alumni Association, and Tigers Unlimited.

    Mr. Bumgardner is survived by his wife, Delores Griffin Bumgardner; son, Daniel Vance Bumgardner, Jr. of Macon; sister, Susan Stead of Merritt Island, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

    Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Central Georgia Council of Boy Scouts or to Forest Hill United Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon, GA 31210.

    MACON - Fred Bumgardner, 85, died Saturday, June 3, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 10A.M. Tuesday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park. Dr. Otis Andrews and Dr. Neal Wall will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

    Mr. Bumgardner was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and had lived in Macon since 1967. He was retired from R.A.F.B. and was a member of Glenwood Hills Baptist Church. Mr. Bumgardner also taught Sunday School for the Macon Fire Department at Stations #5 and 7 for thirty-five plus years, where he was highly respected and dearly loved by the firefighters. He was the widower of Bonnie Jean Bottoms Bumgardner.

    Mr. Bumgardner is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Delores Bumgardner of Macon; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and William Stead of Merritt Island, FL; two grandchildren, Vance Bumgardner of Macon and Ashleigh Merriman of Orlando, FL; two sisters.

    Bonnie J. Bumgardner, 66, of 1719 Winston Drive, died Saturday. Born in Norphlet, Ark., she lived in Macon for the past 28 years and was a retired employee of the Bibb County school system. She was a member of Glenwood Hills Baptist Church, Merry Bible Class and the AARP Chapter No. 1884. She was the daughter of the late Susie Bradford Bottoms. Survivors: husband, Fred Bumgardner of Macon; children, Susan Merriman of Orlando, Fla., and Daniel Vance Bumgardner of Macon; father, Jesse Bottoms of Waldo, Ark.; brother, Jimmy Wayne Bottoms of Eldoroado, Ark.; and two grandchildren.

    Bumgardner Burial Rites Slated Today

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Rose-Neath chapel for Jacob Alex Bumgardner, 63, of 719 Travis street, who died at 11:30 p.m. Monday at a local hospital after a long illness.

    The Rev. H.G. Buchanan, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church, will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at the Red River cemetery at Linton.

    Bumgardner, a retired shipping clerk, had been a resident of Shreveport for the past 35 years. He was born at Linton in Bossier parish. He was associated with the Hemenway-Johnson Furniture company and later with the Roby Furniture company. He retired three years ago due to ill health.

    Bumgardner is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lena Kendrick Bumgardner; four sons, J.K. of Baton Rouge; F.A., F.M. and J.E., all of Shreveport; four daughters, Mrs. T.T. Elkins, Natchitoches; Mrs. W.V. Sistrunk and Mrs. V.H. Brown, both of Shreveport; and Mrs. Louis Bass of Long Beach, Calif.; one brother, John W. Bumgardner, Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. J.G. Warfield, Houston, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.

    Active pallbearers will be R.L. Hudson, W.R. Birdwell, Harry Bumgardner, W.F. Dalrymple, Jr., Arthur Ray Teague, and Milton Davis.

    Honorary pallbearers will be H.D. Tucker, Dr. John W. Cobb and employees of the Roby Furniture company.

    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Marshall Street Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home for Lena Bumgardner, 84, of 2913 Judson St.

    Mrs. Bumgardner died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Schumpert Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

    Services will be conducted by the Rev. O.H. Prothro, a retired Baptist minister. Burial will be in Lay Cemetery near Benton.

    Mrs. Bumgardner was a native of Tullos but had lived in Shreveport most of her life. She was a member of the Queensborough Baptist Church, the Broadmoore Chapter Order of Eastern Star and the VFW Auxiliary.

    She is survived by three sons, John K. Bumgardner, of Baton Rouge, Fred Bumgardner, of Macon, Ga., and James Bumgardner, of Shreveport; four daughter, Mrs. Tom Elkins, Baton Rouge, Mrs. Beth Sistrunk and Mrs. Vollie H. Brown, both of Shreveport, and Mrs. Louis Bass of Slidell; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
