    Forest Horace McCool, 87,Chickasha, Oklahoma, passed away on September 19th, 2016.He was born on November 19th, 1928 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Clarence and Camilla( Baldwin) McCool. Forest married JoAnn Cole on November 24, 1989 in Del City, Oklahoma.He owned and operated a real estate business in College Station, Texas. He served in the United States Army for 22 years.

    Forest loved his family and he loved the Lord. He enjoyed talking about history and politics. He was an avid reader.

    He was born August 8, 1923, in Cameron, Texas; a veteran of World War II; and a retired self-employed paint contractor.

    Survivors include a son, Steven Curtis Slama and wife, Cindy of Houston; two daughters, Kay Perry and husband, Clay of Byran, Texas, Sue Abate and husband, Frankie of Hearne, Texas; one sister, Mildred Yeager, Bryan; seven grandchildren.

    Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, July 31st, Hillier Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend G. Edwin Mangham officiating.

    August 8, 1923 - July 29, 1991

    Funeral services for Steve Edward Slama Jr., 67, of Snook will be today at 3 p.m. at Hillier Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

    The Rev. G. Edwin Mangham of the First Alliance Church of Houston will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

    Mr. Slama died early Monday morning at home.

    He was born in Cameron, formerly lived in Bryan and had lived in Snook for the past eight years.

    He was a retired self-employed paint contractor, and served in the Navy during World War II.

    Mr. Slama was a Baptist. He loved to hunt, fish and participate in all outdoor activities.

    Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Steven Curtis and Cindy Slama of Houston: two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Clay Perry of Bryan and Sue and Frankie Abate of Hearne; a sister, Mildred Yeager of Bryan; and seven grandchildren.

    Ruth Burkhalter Grumbles, 60, of 2904 Montana Ave. in Bryan died in a local nursing home Sunday afternoon.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Owens officiating. Burial will be in Wellborn Cemetery.

    Mrs. Grumbles, born in College Station, had been a Brazos County resident most of her life. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in College Station.

    Survivors include her husband, Vonnie A. Grumbles of Bryan; two daughters, Kay McCool Perry of Bryan, Sue Abate of Hearne; a brother, Lanny Burkhalter of Stafford; and six grandchildren.

    W.D. Burkhalter Funeral Today

    Funeral services for W.D. Burkhalter, 58, were held at 3 PM Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel. Rev. Maurice McElroy, former pastor of the Second Baptist Church in College Station, officiated.

    Burial was in Wellborn Cemetery with the following nephews serving as pallbearers: Sam German, Fletcher German, Searcy German, Norton D. Burkhalter, M.T. Reedy Jr., and Otis Robertson.

    Mr. Burkhalter, a life long resident of Bryan, died at his home early Monday morning.

    Clara E. Burkhalter

    Clara E. Burkhalter, 82, of Bryan died Saturday in a local nursing home after a short illness.

    Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bob Owens of Second Baptist Church of College Station and the Rev. W.A. McDonald, retired, officiated. Burial was in Wellborn Cemetery.

    Mrs. Burkhalter was born in Millican and had lived in Brazos County all her life. She and her late husband, W.D. Burkhalter, donated the land and building to found the Second Baptist Church of College Station. She was a Sunday school teacher and was active in other church activities at Second Baptist Church.

    Survivors include a son, Lanny Ray Burkhalter of Stafford; a daughter, Ruth B. Grumbles of Bryan; two granddaughters, Sue Abate of Hearne, Kay Perry of Bryan; three grandsons, Craig Burkhalter, Chris Burkhalter, and Cory Burkhalter, all of Stafford; and six great-grandchildren.
