    Funeral services for Frank Alvin Simcik, 84, of Temple will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Tom Popelka officiating. Private burial to follow.

    He passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at a local care facility.

    He was born July 14, 1934 in Abbott to Frank R. and Minnie (Marek) Simcik. He graduated from Temple High School in 1952. Frank then graduated from Temple Junior College, University of Texas in 1956 and Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1960. He worked at Scott & White Hospital as a chaplain, a courier and in patient relations. Frank served his Lord and his community as a pastor for over sixty years at several local Unity of Brethren Churches, Evangelical Brethren Churches of Temple and Buckholts, and Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Austin. He also taught Bible class at Temple High School for 10 years. He was truly a blessing to everyone he met.

    Frank married Linda Sebesta on June 8, 1958 in Caldwell. Together they shared over sixty years of marriage. Frank enjoyed reading and doing yardwork but most of all he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, a supportive father and a beloved grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

    He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Simcik; two sons, Bruce Simcik of Austin and Brad Simcik and wife Amy of Houston; a brother, Alvin Simcik; and 5 beloved grandchildren, Caitlin Simcik, Krista Simcik; Brenna Simcik, Will Simcik and Carissa Simcik.

    The family would like to give a special word of thanks to the medical teams and staff from Baylor Scott & White Hospital and Hospice and the Weston Inn. The love and care you gave to Frank and our family is treasured and appreciated.

    Funeral services for Linda Jean Simcik, 79, of Temple will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Tom Popelka officiating. Private burial to follow.

    She passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Baylor Scott & White Continuing Care Hospital.

    She was born October 26, 1939 in Caldwell, Texas to Willie and Lydia Dusek Sebesta. She graduated from Caldwell High School class of 1958 and attended the University of Texas in Austin. Her main focus was her faithfulness to her home and family. She also worked as a church secretary and teacher's assistant at local preschools. She loved playing her piano and singing Christian music in churches and at home. She planned and coordinated musical presentations with choirs in various churches she and her husband served. She was a very supportive and loyal Pastor's wife, to her husband Frank, for over sixty years in various Central Texas churches, most recently being Buckholts Evangelical Brethren Church.

    Linda married Frank Simcik on June 8, 1958 in Caldwell. Together they shared over sixty years of marriage. She was well known and loved for making candies such as peanut and pecan brittle and baking other specialties as well. She enjoyed working in her garden and tending to her flowers and plants. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her sons and daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, supportive mother, and a beloved grandmother and will dearly be missed by all who loved her. She used her talents and gifts to serve her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, faithfully for her entire life.

    She is survived by her two sons, Bruce Simcik of Austin and Brad Simcik and wife Amy of Houston; a sister, Alice Chlapek of Caldwell; five grandchildren, Caitlin Simcik, Krista Simcik, Brenna Simcik, Will Simcik, and Carissa Simcik; as well as many other family and friends.

    The family would like to give a special word of thanks to the medical teams and staff from Baylor Scott & White Hospital, BS&W Continuing Care Hospital and S&W Hospice. The love and care you gave to Linda and our family is treasured and appreciated.

    EXPRESSION OF SYMPATHY

    We, the Resolution Committee of Lodge No. 7, Caldwell, in behalf of the entire membership, express our sympathy to the bereaved family of our departed lodge brother,

    WILLIE JOE SEBESTA, SR.,

    age 77, who died at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 25, 1975 in the Goodnight Memorial Hospital following a 10-day hospital stay.

    Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 27th, in the Caldwell Brethren Church, with Rev. Henry Beseda and Rev. Daniel Marek officiating. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of Bowers-Harvey-Schiller Funeral Home.

    Brother Sebesta was born on June 24th, 1898 in Deanville Community. He was united in marriage to Miss Lydia M. Dusek of November 30, 1920. This marriage was blessed with four children (his oldest daughter preceded him in death, and she was married to John W. Springer); one son, B.J. Sebesta; daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Alice Ruth) Chlapek and Mrs. Linda Jean Simcik (the wife of Rev. Frank Simcik).

    Brother Sebesta was a member of the Caldwell Brethren Church and a member of the Caldwell Brethren Church and a member of SPJST Lodge No. 7, Caldwell, for 58 years, having served as president for 18 years. His early life's occupation being in farming, later he became a clerk for Parkhill Grocery Store for 14 years, and then at Jennings Hardware Co. for 24 years.

    Survivors include his wife, one son and two daughters; two brothers and three sisters.

    Serving as pallbearers were his two grandsons, Wesley Springer of Pasadena, and Charles Sebesta of San Angelo; nephews Theodore Dusek, Franklin Sebesta, both of Caldwell, Melvin Pertl, Robert Deutsch, James Wolff, all of Houston, and Joe F. Sebesta of Gregory.

    May our departed brother rest in eternal peace and may his memory live among us forever.

    Expression of Sympathy

    We, the Resolution Committee of Lodge No. 17, Novy Tabor, on behalf of our entire membership, wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family of our departed sister

    LYDIA MARIE SEBESTA,

    who passed away on August 5, 1986, in the Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas following a lengthy illness.

    Lydia Marie Sebesta was born on May 19, 1901, in Burleson County, Texas in the New Tabor community to the late Frank V. Dusek and Marie Mrnustik Dusek. A lifelong resident of Burleson County, she was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Caldwell Brethren Church. She was active in Church Women's Christian Sisters serving as president, vice president, secretary and treasurer for several years. She was married to Willie Joe Sebesta on November 30, 1920. He preceded her in death on August 25, 1975. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Josephine Springer in 1973.

    Services were held at 3 p.m. on August 6th in the Caldwell Brethren Church with Rev. Daniel Marek officiating. Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery.

    Survivors include one son, B.J. Sebesta of Kenedy; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Alice) Chlapek of Pasadena and Mrs. Frank (Linda) Sincik of Austin; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

    Pallbearers were Theodore F. Dusek, Sr., Jerry J. Dusek, Daniel Dusek, Bruce F. Simcik, Bill Sebesta, Wesley Springer, Don Sebesta, Franklin Sebesta, Royce E. Deutsch, Charles M Sebesta, Joe F. Sebesta and Melvin E. Pertl.
