    Oklahoma News Pioneer Jerry Dalrymple Passes Away

    Jerry Dalrymple passed away Wednesday morning.

    OKLAHOMA CITY - News 9 remembers a pioneer in the news industry and in its own company.

    Jerry Dalrymple passed away Wednesday morning. He was a big part of the News 9 family.

    Dalrymple's career at KWTV spanned 42 years. He played a major part in some of the company's biggest milestones, including the first-ever automated weather warning system, using the first-ever Doppler Radar for weather coverage and the acquiring the first news helicopter in Oklahoma.
    Jerry Dalrymple was 74 years old.

    Jerry Grey Dalrymple, age 74, was born in Benton, LA on June 5, 1938 and passed away on May 15th at his home in Oklahoma City.

    He graduated high school in Bossier City, LA. He met his wife, Kim, in Bossier City and they were married in 1964. They moved to Oklahoma City where he joined KWTV in 1963 and after a 42 year career, he retired as an Executive from Griffin Communications in 2005. During his time at KWTV/News 9, Jerry was instrumental in the station's growth and ratings dominance. He played a major part in some of the company's biggest milestones, including the first-ever automated weather warning system, using the first-ever Doppler Radar for weather coverage and acquiring the first news helicopter in Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by their daughter, Rosalyn E. Dalrymple, his parents, Harvie and Laura Dalrymple, Bossier City, LA, and his brother, B.W.

    He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kim Dalrymple; daughter, Rebecca Robinson of Edmond, sister Anna Rae and husband Jerry Bartholomew of Austin, TX; brother-in-law Pat and wife Peggy Malmstrom of Little Rock, AR; grandchildren Mason and Hannah Robinson of Edmond along with many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3 pm until 8 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Memorial Road Mennonite Brethren Church in Edmond. Charitable donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

She was preceded in death by Jerry and their daughter, Rosalyn.     SHREVEPORT, LA - Elizabeth Houston Kelker, 76, of Shreveport, Louisiana, died Monday, April 6, 1998. Born in Sarepta, Louisiana, she was a homemaker and a member of Willow Point Baptist Church in Shreveport. She was a wonderful lady, loving mother, caring grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to many.

    She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kim M. and Jerry Dalrymple of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Peggy Malmstrom of Roland, Arkansas; two brothers, Ottis Houston of Pontotoc, Mississippi, David Lee Houston and wife, Jean of Walker Louisiana; a sister-in-law, Marce Houston of Shreveport; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kelker; a brother, Lester Houston and a granddaughter, Rosalyn Dalrymple.

    The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 9, 1998 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel, with Rev. Sonny Simpson and Dr. Jack Hazlewood officiating. Interment will be in Forest Park West.

    Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel.

    Memorials may be made to Arkansas Cancer Research Center, Little Rock, Arkansas or to Willow Point Baptist Church, Shreveport, Louisiana

    Vesta E. Houston, 81, of 651 W. 69th, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Willis-Knighton Hospital following a three-month illness.

    Mr. Houston, a retired contractor, was a native of Sarepta and had lived here for 51 years. He coached a little league baseball team and was a scoutmaster for many years.

    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Calvary Baptist Church, by the Rev. W.D. Martin, church pastor. Burial will be in Forest Park West Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

    Survivors include his widow; three sons, Lester Houston of Shreveport, Ottis G. Houston of Brookhaven, Miss., and David L. Houston of Baton Rouge; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Kelker of Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Pugh of Sarepta and Mrs. Gertie Cochran of Springhill, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services for Hattye Daughtry Houston, 85, of 4235 Madera Drive, will be held at 4 p.m. today in the Southside Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home, with the Rev. W.D. "Step" Martin, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park West Cemetery.

    Mrs. Houston died at 4:30 a.m. Friday in Willis-Knighton Hospital after a long illness. She was a Grand Cane native and had lived in Shreveport 59 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

    Survivors include three sons, Lester E. Houston of Shreveport, Ottis G. Houston of Greenwood, Miss., and David L. Houston of Walker; a daughter, Elizabeth H.
