    LAKE CHARLES - James "Jim" Desmond Files, Sr., 83, of Moss Bluff died Thursday, January 22, 2009, in a local hospital.

    Mr. Files was born Gorman, Texas, raised and educated in Mission, Texas and had lived 22 years in the Lake Charles area. He retired a Drilling Consultant after 50 years in the Oil Filed. He worked primarily for Williams Drilling Company and Stone Petroleum and for some time owned and operated Files Petroleum Consultants.

    Mr. Files enjoyed watching and talking about football and NASCAR. He also enjoyed having exotic birds as house pets.

    He will be most remembered as a loving father and wonderful grandfather. He leaves to honor his memory, three sons, James Desmond Files, Jr. and wife, Denise, Johnny D. Files and wife, Angie, all of Youngsville, and Michael Lee Files of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Adele Raye Files, Jacy Lee Files, Baily Lyn Coscarart, of Bosco, and Dillon Michael Files, all of Youngsville; one great-grandchildren on the way, Marlie Coscarart; and two brothers, Patrick H. Files of Georgetown, Texas, and Wiley Files, of Winchester Bay, Ore.

    He also leaves, six step-children, Roger and Shera Materne, J.D. Materne, Harold Materne and wife, Mary, Darrell Materne and wife, Leslie, Sandra Gibson, and Gail Ducote; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Wally and Alva Crowe Files; his first wife and mother of his children, Joyce Warner Files and his loving wife, Lois Materne Files.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Mickey Byrd and Mr. Alfred Antoine will officiate. Burial will be in Creel Cemetery in Bel, LA. Visitation Friday will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.

    Pallbearers for services will be Mike Larriviere, Jhon Coscarart, Ron Brazzel, Otis Collins, David Johnson and Grizz Manry.

    LAFAYETTE - A memorial service for Joyce Warner Files will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Maison de Goodwill in Lafayette.

    A memorial service at United Methodist Church of Grayson in Grayson is pending. The Rev. Charles Roper will officiate at the service in Grayson.

    Joyce Warner Files died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2000, at her home. She was a native of Holum and a resident of Maison de Goodwill for the past year. She also had made her home in Columbia, Franklin, Monroe and Onalaska, Texas.

    Mrs. Files is survived by her sons, Mike Files of Dallas, Texas, James "Jim" D. Files Jr. and his wife, Denise, and Johnny Files and his wife, Angie, all of Youngsville; four grandchildren, Baily, Adele, Jacy and Dillon Files of Youngsville; two sisters, Elva Tingle of Collierville, Tenn., and Clois Witt of Thomson, Ga.

    She was preceded in death by her father, G. Lee Warner; her mother, Cliffie Warner Taylor; and her brother, Dale Warner.

    It was her wish that her body be donated to LSU Medical Center in hopes that others could benefit.

    Memorial contributions in Mrs. Files may be made to Mason de Goodwill, Hospice of Acadiana or the United Methodist Church of Grayson.
