    Funeral services for B. Lawrence "Toby" Gautreaux, 27, of 823 Rose Ann St., Opelousas, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Landry Catholic Church. Burial was in Bellevue Memorial Park under direction of the First National Funeral Home.

    Gautreaux was electrocuted Friday morning in an accident at United Packers, Dr. A.E. Williams, St. Landry Parish coroner, said.

    Gautreaux suffered an electric shock about 10:45 a.m. at the plant. He was pronounced dead two hours later at St. Landry Clinic.

    James Pitre, manager of United Packers, said the accident occurred while Gautreaux was on a ladder working on wiring in one of the canning rooms at the plant.

    Gautreaux is survived by his widow, the former Jeralyn Reed, and one daughter, Sonia Kay Gautreaux, both of Opelousas; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laurent Gautreaux; and two sisters, Mrs. Harold Ray of Opelousas and Mrs. Edmon Thibodeaux of Houma.

    Mr. Gautreaux, a retired farmer and carpenter of Opelousas, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Opelousas General Hospital following a short illness.

    Survivors include his wife, the former Isabelle Miller of Opelousas; two sons, Paul Gautreaux of Opelousas and John Gautreaux of Sunset; two daughters, Mrs. Edmond (Jeanette) Thibodeaux, Jr. and Mrs. Joseph H. (Allee) Ray, both of Opelousas; a sister, Mrs. Pierre (Gertrude) Bellard of Crowley; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    Mrs. Lila Cummings Of Church Point Succumbs Wednesday

    Mrs. Lila Cummings, 68, of Church Point, died at 7:40 p.m. April 20 at the St. Landry Hospital following an illness of five days.

    Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, April 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Clay Bienvenu officiating.

    Born Lila McBride on July 24, 1880, Mrs. Cummings was a native of Church Point and had lived her entire life in that community.

    Survivors include her 98 year old father, Ed McBride of Church Point; her husband, Louis Cummings, of Church Point; four sons, Ebenezer Miller of Lewisburg, John M. Miller of Baton Rouge, Edwin R. Cummings and Alec B. Cummings of Opelousas; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Gautreaux of Lewisburg and Mrs. Elmer Guillory of Church Point, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

    The First National Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

    ACADIA PIONEER DIES AT HOME IN CHURCH POINT

    Ed McBride, 95, Will Be Buried In Rites In Church Point Sunday

    Church Point - (Spl) - Ed McBride, 95 year old member of one of Acadia's first families, died at his home three miles east of Church Point at 8 p.m. Friday following an extended illness.

    Funeral services will be held at 930 a.m. Sunday at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Church Point. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. C.A. Bienvenu will conduct the services.

    Mr. McBride was born October 1855, in Church Point, in one of the earliest pioneer homes in that community. Four generations of descendants survive him as well as a member of his own generation, Mrs. Jerry Wimberly, his 99-year old sister.

    Survivors include three sons, Wallace of Crowley, Noah of Vinton, Jacob of Lake Charles; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Guidry of Vinton, Mrs. Monroe Higginbotham of Orange, Texas, Mrs. Ollie Marshall of Church Point and Mrs. Leo Guidry of Vinton; 27 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
