    Mr. A. J. Abshire (Abbie) passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at South East Texas Regional Hospital in Mid County.

    He was born in Port Arthur, TX, November 3, 1925 to Paul and Ada Abshire.

    He is survived by his loving wife, Margo, to whom he was married 62 years; his son Richard Abshire and wife, Gay, grandson, Heath Abshire and wife, Breean, granddaughter, Britney Norman and husband, Paul; one great grandson, Hunter Cane Abshire, all of Groves, Texas; brothers, Charles W. Abshire and wife, Betty, of Pasadena, TX, Linwood James Abshire and wife, Joan, of Lumberton, and Lewis E. Abshire and wife, Jeanette, of Port Neches.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Abbie Paul Abshire, sisters, Agnes Arnold of Port Arthur and Dorothy Palmer of Center, TX.

    A.J. graduated from St. James Catholic School in Port Arthur and was immediately called to the U. S. Army. Mr. Abshire was a WWII veteran and had served in the European Theater under George Patton in the 3rd Army in Germany. Upon his return, he resided in Groves, TX and went to work for DuPont Sabine River Works in Orange, TX. He was a pre-planner in the E.N.C.O. Department. Mr. Abshire retired in 1983 and made many friends during those years. After his retirement, he and Margo moved to Wildwood, TX, where they built a lake front home. A.J. loved to work in the yard and did all the landscaping. He was also an avid golfer and a member of the M.G.A until his health failed. Mr. Abshire was a faithful member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Beaumont. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

    A memorial service will be held at St. Marks Episcopal Church on Calder in Beaumont, TX on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. Rev. Frank Fuller will officiate.

    Margaret Abshire, 95, of Lumberton, passed away on September 3, 2019.

    A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2019, at St. Mark?s Episcopal Church in Beaumont with a reception at 10:30 a.m.

    Born in Nantymoel, South Wales, on April 22, 1924, she was the daughter of Percival John Baker and Cathleen Brown Baker. Margaret loved gardening and being surrounded by flowers. She was a wonderful cook. Margaret enjoyed watching the Astros, reading, and traveling every chance she got. She was a loving mother and a wonderful grandmother, taking in everyone who she encountered, with love and kindness.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, A.J. Abshire; parents, Percival and Cathleen Baker; brother, John Baker; and sister, Pat Baker.

    She is survived by her son, Richard Abshire and wife Gay of Lumberton; grandchildren, Britney & P.J. Norman, and Heath & Breeann Abshire; great-grandchildren, Colt & Brylee Norman, and Hunter & Hanna Abshire; and sisters, Gene and Joyce of England; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark?s Treasure House at 680 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

    BRIDGE CITY - Rosary for Paul Abshire, 73, of 753 Avenue B, will be recited today at 8 p.m. in the Levingston Funeral home chapel in Groves. Funeral services will be held in St. Henry's Catholic church Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Dazio, of St. Henry's, officiating. The Rev. Dale Calhoun of St. Pius Catholic church in Beaumont and the James Ingle of St. Anthony's Catholic church in Beaumont, will assist. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial park.

    Mr. Abshire died Saturday at 1:10 a.m. in Doctors hospital in Groves. He had lived in the area for 50 years and was an operator at Ameripol in Port Neches.

    BRIDGE CITY - Rosaries for Paul Abshire, 73, of 753 Avenue B in Bridge City, who died today at 1:10 a.m. in Doctors hospital after a short illness, will be recited today and Sunday at 8 p.m. in the Levingston Funeral home chapel in Groves. The Knights of Columbus and Legion of Mary from Bridge City will conduct the rosary Sunday.

    Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Henry's Catholic church with the Rev. Joseph Dazio, of St. Henry's, officiating. Assisting will be the Rev. Dale Calhoun of St. Pius Catholic church in Beaumont and the Rev. James Ingle of St. Anthony's Catholic church in Beaumont. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial park.

Morceaux of Gibson, La. and Mrs. L. LeBlanc of Nederland; two brothers, J.J. Abshire of Port Arthur and E.A. Abshire of Marrero, La., 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

    Pallbearers will be Paul White, Luther White, Jack Palmer, Kenneth Palmer, Gene Brown and Earl Keel.

    Resident 20 Years Dies Of Heart Trouble

    Mrs. Paul Abshire, 36, a resident of this section for 20 years, died of heart trouble yesterday at 6 p.m. at her home at Kolb's crossing after an illness of three weeks.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic church, of which she was a member. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery under direction of Grammier's.

    Mrs. Abshire was a native of Rayne, La.

    She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. J.M. White and Miss Dorothy Abshire; five sons, Abbie, A.J., Wilford, L.J. and L.E. Abshire, all of Kolb's crossing; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Talbot; two sisters, Mrs. E. Champagne and Mrs. Albert LeBouef; four brothers, E., F., W. and C. Talbot, all of Port Arthur; and one grandchild, James White of Kolb's crossing.
