    Lester Marvin Gross better known as Marvin passed away January 20, 2019 at the age of 63. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Spring Creek Fellowship in Big Spring.

    Marvin was born September 27, 1955 in Andrews to Lester Gross and Lola Mae Fowler Gross. He lived in Andrews until he moved to Big Spring in the mid 60's. He met Betty Jean Loftin in 1974 and they married May 7, 1976 in Colorado City, Texas.

    Marvin and Betty worked together at the Phillips 66 Station on 4th Street. He worked for CMC as a welder, working his way up to Foreman. In the 1970's he was a carpenter, helping build Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He also build most of the house on Vicki Street. In 1981 after saving money made from changing and fixing tires Marvin and Betty built and opened Marvin's Garage.

    Marvin is survived by his wife Betty; three daughters, Betsy Morrison, Tammy (Stacey) Pair and Katie Gross; a son, Marvin (Liz) Gross; six grandchildren, Kari Gross, Baylea Gross, Destiney Rogers, Meagen Rogers, Briggs Gross and MaeLynn Torres; a sister in law, Linda (Doug) Randle and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Julie Thompson in June and an infant sister, Mary Ann Gross.

    The family would like to thank everyone during his brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Your kindness, calls, thoughtfulness will not be forgotten.

    Services for Lester Gross, 64, of Andrews were in the Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Street officiating. Burial was in Andrews Old Cemetery under direction of Singteton-Easterling Funeral Home.

    Gross died Thursday, Sept. 15, 1994, in Permian General Hospital.

    He was born Feb. 16, 1930, in Holliday, Archer County, Texas to Bumon Johnson and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross. He married Lola Fowler on November 04, 1949 in NM. He later, married Juanita Johnston Vowell on Dec. 29, 1979, in Andrews. He moved to Andrews from Seagraves in 1947, and he was a member of Second Baptist Church.

    He was a retired auto mechanic.

    Proceeded in death by his parents, Bumon Johnson and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross.

    Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, Marvin Gross of Big Spring, step-son, James Fowler of Eagle Pass and Step-son, Dwayne Vowell of Quinlan; two daughters, Shirley Borders of Cedartown, Ga., and step-daughter, Malta Coffer of Roswell, N.M.; four brothers, J.B., Leslie, Wesley, and Lonnie, all of Andrews; a sister, Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild, Sean Borders.

    Obituary:

    Buman Johnson Gross, age 65, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Friday morning, November 8, 1963 in the Permian General Hosptial in Andrews, Texas. Gross had been in Amarillo where he became ill and was hospitalized and later transferred to Permian General Hospital in Andrews, Texas.

    He lived in the 600 block of SW 6th street and had been a resi­dent of Andrews for the past 18 years moving here from Seagraves. Gross had farmed and was a mechanic for most of his life. He was the founder of the Gross garage here.

    Gross was born in Cooper, Delta County, Texas, February 14, 1898.

    He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Claudia Gross, one daughter, Mrs. Harold Bonham, of Kermit; six sons, all of Andrews, W. J. "Bill" Gross, J. B. Gross, Wesley Gross, Leslie Gross, Lester Gross, and Lonnie Gross; six half-brothers, Earnest McSwain, of Modesto, Cali­fornia, Russel McSwain, of Seagraves, Eldon McSwain, of Gore, Bert McSwain, of Amarillo, Frank McSwain, of Dimmitt, and Owen McSwain, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Other survivors include 21 grandchildren.

    Gross Services Slated Sunday

    ANDREWS (Special) - Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Second Baptist Church for Buman Johnson Gross, 65, a resident here 18 years who died at 1:30 a.m. Friday in a local hospital.

    The Rev. H. F. James, former pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church here, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Leon Snelson, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church.

    Burial will be in Andrews Cemetery under direction of Singleton Funeral Home.

    Survivors include his wife, Claudia; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Bonham, Kermint; six sons, W. J. (Bill), J. B., Wesley, Leslie, Lester and Lonnie, all of Andrews; six half brothers, Ernest McSwain, Modesto, Calif., Russell McSwain, Seagraves; Eldon McSwain, Goree; Bert McSwain, Amarillo; Frank McSwain, Dimmitt, and Owens McSwain, Oklahoma City; and 21 grandchildren.

    ANDREWS - Services for Claudia Irene Gross, 75, of Andrews, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Second Baptist Church with burial in Andrews Cemetery under the direction of Singleton Funeral Home.

    Mrs. Gross was found dead at her home about noon Sunday. Justice of the Peace G. A. Ragsdale pronounced her dead and ruled her death was from natural causes.

    She was born in Groesbeck Jan. 28, 1904, and had lived in Andrews 31 years, coming from Seagraves.

    Survivors include six sons, W.J. (Bill) Gross, Wesley Gross, Leslie Gross, Lester Gross and Lonnie Gross, all of Andrews, and J.B. Gross of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; two sisters, Etta High of Seagraves and Flora Sturgeon of Seymour; three brothers, Ernest Bryant of Andrews, Elward Bryant of Pasadena and Hillis Bryant of Texas City; 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
