Obituary:

A service will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel for Harry C. Thompson, 87, who died at home Saturday, June 22, 1996. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Born May 14, 1909, in Elko, Ill., Mr. Thompson had lived in the Vancouver area 13 years. He had worked as a welder for 30 years, retiring in 1972. His family said he was an outstanding gardener and enjoyed attending garage sales. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Rose City Baptist Church in Portland.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary E., in 1983, and his second wife, Joan, in 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Alice Wilushewski of Moscow, Pa., and Wilma L. Baker of Vancouver; one son, Robert L. of Portland; three sisters, Thelma M., Dorothy A. and Betty D., all of Granite City, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Joan Reese, 69, of 2600 W. Fremont, formerly of Pinewood Health Center in Monmouth, died Friday, Jan. 28, 1994, at her home.

Born Jan. 22, 1925, in Campbell, Mo., to Robert N. and Verna I. Crow Vaughn, she married Edgar F. Reese on Jan. 2, 1966, in St. Louis. He died Nov. 3, 1970, in Mapleton. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers and one sister.

Surviving are four brothers, Robert Vaughn of Denver, Billie Vaughn of Peoria, Jimmie E. Vaughn of St. Louis, and Paul Killman of North Market, Iowa; and four sisters, Helen Neidkorn of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Marie Ollis of Joliet, Ruth Eaton of Jackson, Mo., and Virginia Moore of Wayne, Mich.

Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.

Obituary:

Robert N. Vaughn, age 65, died at St. Mary's Hospital Tuesday at 10:45 p. m. after an extended illness. His home was at 201 Elmwood Place. Mr. Vaughn had been a resident of Cairo for the past 17 years.

He was born February 11, 1887 at Vienna and was married to Verna I. Crow, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Crow of Holcomb, Mo., on August 14, 1910. To this union, 15 children were born, 12 of whom are surviving.

For many years, Mr. Vaughn was engaged in the insurance business in Dunklin County, Mo. Four years prior to his retirement, he was an employe of Federal Barge Line.

Survivors include his wife, Verna; six daughters, Helen Niederkorn of Chicago, Virginia Moore of Wayne, Mich., Marie O'Shea of Lockport, Ill., Joan Thompson of St. Louis, Catherine Sapien of St. Louis, Ruth Vaughn of Chicago; six sons, Maj. Paul B. Vaughn of Pope Air Force Base, Ft. Bragg, N.C., Robert A. Vaughn of Kansas City, Mo., Billy G. and Carl B. Vaughn both of Cairo, Jimmy E. Vaughn of Metropolis and Jack A. Vaughn of Hopkins, Mo.; 24 grandchildren; his father, Marion F. Vaughn of Kennett, Mo.; several half-sisters and half-brothers and other relatives.

The body is at Karcher Brothers Funeral Home where friends may call.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Joe Caldwell officiating.

Interment will be made in Thistlewood Cemetery.

Verna I. Vaughn, nee Crow, 94, of Belleville, died Tuesday, October 8, 1985 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert Vaughn, three daughters; a son; her parents; two sisters and a brother.

Surviving are six sons, Paul B. Vaughn and Carl Vaughn, both of Belleville, Robert A. Vaughn of Boulder, CO, Billie Vaughn of Peoria, IL, Jimmie Vaughn of St. Louis, MO and Paul E. Killam of New Market, IA; five daughters, Helen Niederkorn of Scott City, MO, Virginia Moore of Wayne, MI, Marie Ollis of Crest Hill, IL, Joan Reese of Peoria, IL and Ruth Eaton of Grassy, MO; 49 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, at the George Renner and Sons Funeral Home in Belleville with Rev. Mansfield Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery in Mounds, IL.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
