    • Obituary:

      SCOTT - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Mazel Leger Tanner, 65, who died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997, at V.N.A. Hospice Center in San Antonio.

      Interment will be in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

      The Rev. Matthew Higginbotham, associate pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, will conduct the services.

      Survivors include one son, Russell James "Rusty" Tanner and his wife, the former Mary Beth Hughes, of Dallas; one granddaughter, Rachael Marie Tanner of Dallas; one sister, Isabelle Hayes of Rayne; and two brothers, Hubert Leger Jr. of Scott and John Gilford Leger of Lafayette.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Myron Tanner; one brother, Ewell Leger; and three sisters, Hazel Morris, Talley Hayes and Bertha Boudreaux.

      A native of Duson and a resident of San Antonio 25 years, Mrs. Tanner was the daughter of the late Hubert Leger Sr. and the former Clotile Chiasson.

      Mrs. Tanner was employed as a secretary in the hotel industry.

      Pallbearers will be: Julian Hayes, Kenneth Lagneaux, Hillard LeBlanc, Hubert Leger III, Bert Leger and Damian Leger.

      A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home in Scott.

      Memorial contributions in Mrs. Tanner's name may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, P.O. Box 3467, Lafayette, La. 70502, or to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 52884, Lafayette, La. 70505.

      The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8 a.m. Saturday until time of services.

      Arrangements have been entrusted to Martin & Castille Funeral Home Inc. of Scott.
