    • Obituary:

      John Johnson Rites Scheduled In Jayton

      JAYTON (Special) - Services for John Martin Johnson, 45, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Jayton United Methodist Church. Johnson died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday in Methodist Hospital in Lubbock after an extended illness.

      Officiating will be the Rev. Tommy Ewing, pastor. Burial will be in Jayton Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee Funeral Home of Rotan.

      Pallbearers will be Billy Charles Dibrell, Floyd Hall, Monroe Davis, W. E. Walker, Gordon Hamilton, Ray Smith, Jim Montgomery and Gordon Cheyne.

      A native of the Draw community in Lynn County, Johnson moved to Jayton in 1930 with his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Luther Johnson.

      He was married to Marry Lynn Harrison in Spur in 1945. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy and an employe of General Crude Oil Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jayton and was serving on the Stewardship Committee.

      Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Harry Kaercher of Howard Air Force Base in the Panama Canal Zone, Beverly of Lubbock and Jonnie of the home; a son, George Martin of the home; his parents; three sisters, Mrs. Ladell McAteer and Mrs. Richard Brownlee, both of Jayton, and Mrs. Mahlon Johnson of Red River, N. M.; and one grandson.
