    • Obituary:

      George Thomas Gourley, 44, chartered life underwriter, of Galveston, died Sunday at John Sealy Hospital.

      Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Rev. Steve Horn of Houston officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Malloy & Son Funeral Home.

      A Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

      Mr. Gourley was born May 10, 1937, in Mobile, Ala. He was a partner in Gourley & Moore Associates Insurance Co. for 17 years. A Galveston resident for 39 years, he attended Kirwin High School, St. Edwards University and the University of Houston. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, the Galveston Association of Life Underwriters, the Galveston Chapter of Chartered Life Underwriters and the Galveston Racquet Club. He was active for many years in Lassie League Softball and taught CLU classes for five years.

      Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Patsy Gourley of Galveston; his mother, Irma Sjogren of Galveston; his father, William Gourley of Gulf Shores, Ala.; four children, Karen Lynette Gourley, Lori Kay Gourley, Natalie Elaine Jones and Jerry Ray Jones, all of Galveston; two sisters, Mrs. Nat Shaprio and Joyce Gollott, both of Houston; a brother, William E. (Buddy) Gourley of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Elaine Jones.

      Pallbearers will be Francis Cantini, Frank Torregrossa II, J. (Bud) Strong, Dr. Edward Hannigan, Robert M. Moore, Roger Montemayor and Gilbert Montemayor.

      Visitors may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today, and memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
