Ex-Victoria Woman Dies In Accident
FORT WORTH - Joan Elaine Woody Schoening, 33, editorial supervisor for the Kenneth Copeland Ministries, and daughter of a Victoria couple, has died in a single-vehicle accident in north central Tarrant County.
Mrs. Schoening was a former Victoria resident. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Larry Woody of Victoria.
Tarrant County sheriff's department Lt. Darrell Clements said the Wednesday morning accident occurred on County Road 4062 at Peden Road.
Clements said Mrs. Schoening was driving a compact two-door car northbound on the county road in a light misty rain when the vehicle went out of control, veered to the right and struck a barbed wire fence.
The vehicle then went airborne, flipped upside down and struck a utility pole.
Mrs. Schoening was dead at the scene, Clements said.
A spokesman for the Tarrant County medical examiner's office said Mrs. Schoening died from head injuries.
Mrs. Schoening and her husband, Dave Schoening, were married last year.
She was born April 20, 1957, in Smithfield, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Country Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home.
Surviving besides her parents and husband are two brothers, Tom Woody of College Station and Kelly Woody of California, her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Alma Lassiter of Four Oaks, N.C., and her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ila Mae Woody of Missouri City.
