  Obituary: Hetty Jane Viertel of Brenham, TX, died on October 12, 2020. A visitation will be held from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. during the visitation. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 16, 2020 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Corby Brizendine officiating. Burial will follow in Carmine City Cemetery. Mrs. Viertel was born on May 22, 1932 in Iola, TX to Thomas and Fannie Wilson Stutts. She married her husband, Ervin H. Viertel, on August 6, 1977 in Martin Luther Lutheran Church. Mrs. Viertel was a member of First Baptist Church of Somerville and Citizens on Patrol. She worked in the medical field as a nurse at Bohne Hospital, St. Jude Hospital, and Trinity Medical Center. She liked to ride horses, fish, and loved animals. She loved to take care of people and liked to go to the farm with Ervin. She is survived by her husband, Ervin Viertel of Brenham, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Edgar Viertel and wife Joan of Carmine, TX; sister-in-law, Gladys Torn of Brenham, TX; nieces and nephews, David Viertel and wife Julie, Ann-Marie Viertel, Tanya Viertel, and Sandy Partee and husband Tim; and great nieces and nephew. She is preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Fannie Stutts; daughter, Monica Lynn Vincent; son, Joe Ben Viertel; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Melvin and Dorothy Viertel, and Paul Viertel. Serving as Pallbearers will be Monty Mayer, Adam Mayer, Chase Smolik, Clayton Wickel, Brandon Wickel, and Ricky Weiss. Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church of Somerville Build Fund or Washington County EMS.
