Notes - Obituary:
John C. Watson, 63, a lifelong Westfield resident, died Thursday, Aug. 29, in Riverview Hospital.
Services will be at Union Friends Church, Westfield, 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Joseph Enyart, the Rev. Michael Watson and the Rev. Donald Cassady will officiate. Burial will be in Summit Lawn Cemetery, Westfield.
Watson was born in Westfield Oct. 13, 1921, the son of Carl and Evan Lena (Purdey) Watson. With his brother Jim, Watson founded the Carl and Lena Watson Scholarship Fund at Union Bible Seminary, Westfield.
Watson was a tractor-trailer owner and operator most of his adult life. For two years he worked at Sakrete of Indiana Inc., Westfield, and with his wife grew hydroponic tomatoes commercially at their home.
Survivors include his wife, the former Hazel "Dottie" Waters; four children: Loye Jane Winders, Cicero; Charles David Watson, Zionsville; James Edward Watson, Founatintown; and John Watson II, Palo Alto, Calif. There are nine grandchildren.
Also surviving are a nephew, Joel Wayne Watson, in the U. S. Navy in Millington, Tenn.; five sisters and three brothers: Clarice Simmons, Prosperity, S.C.; Marjorie Waller, Westfield; Mary Gray, Westfield; Martha Ogden, Tipton; Naomi Tobin, Alexandria; Burl Watson, Westfield; James and Joseph L. Watson, both Brandon, Fla.
Friends may call at McMullan Funeral Home, Westfield, after 2 p.m. today.
