Clarion was born March 19, 1924 in Worth County, Iowa to Edwin K. Hagen and Hilda Troe Hagen. He was very proud of his Norwegian heritage. His Great grandparents were immigrants from Norway. He has 2 surviving sisters and 3 brothers: Iva Willert of Lake Mills, Iowa, Marilyn Stevens of St. Paul, MN, Lyle Hagen and wife Mary Lou of Cedar Falls, Iowa, David Hagen and wife Helen of Charles City, Iowa, and Ervin Hagen and wife Linda of Osage, Iowa

Clarion was a veteran of the Army and transferred to the Air Force. While stationed at the Lake Charles Air Force Base, he met his future wife, Ruby Hebert Hagen, in Lake Charles and were married for 63 years. They were blessed with 8 children: Clarion Hagen, Jr. (Butch), Sulphur, Larry Hagen and wife Carol of Miles City, Gary Hagen (deceased), surviving wife Frances Hagen of Ragley, Frank Hagen and wife Shirley of Moss Bluff, Sandy Byrd and husband Andy of Houston, TX, Paul Hagen of Ragley, Terry Hagen and wife Molly of Moss Bluff, and Diana Hagen of Ragley; 14 Grand children, (2 deceased) and 17 Great Grand children.

Clarion began his career working with his father in-law in construction. He continued working as a contractor in home construction for 40 years.

He was an active member of Magnolia Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday School class. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and working in the yard. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and looked forward to a traditional Sunday dinner followed by playing card games with his loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Magnolia Baptist Church Building Fund, 1922 Magnolia Church Road, Ragley, LA 70657

Special thanks to Dr. Van Snider, Dr. Kevin Schlamp, Lisa Manual and the many caregivers who were so faithful in his care.

Father's Favorite Poem: (This is a poem our father received in a birthday card and carried it in his bible.)
Dad, your words of wisdom helped to get me through my youth:
      "Do your best."
      "Be happy."
      "Mind your manners."
      "Tell the truth."
And while I've always valued your advice, I now see your wonderful example is what taught the most to me.

From watching you, I've learned to find the joy in little things. I've seen the satisfaction and fulfillment hard work brings.

I've watched your quiet courage when tough times come along, and I've seen that being gentle often makes a person strong...

In all these ways, you've shown me what it means to love and to live, and that's the greatest lesson any dad can ever give.

      Thanks, Dad ...
