Notes - Obituary:
Funeral services for Edward Glenn Gates, 30, of Hitchcock, will be held at 2 p.m. today at the chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home, the Rev. Robert King officiating.
Burial will be at Galveston Memorial Park, under the direction of James Crowder Funeral Home. Mr. Gates died Monday afternoon at Memorial Hospital of Galveston County. He was born in Tokyo, Japan, on August 23, 1950.
He was employed as operator for Amoco Chemical Co. in Texas City. He was a veteran of Viet Nam having served in the Air Force and was a member of Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union. He lived in the Hitchcock, La Marque area for 24 years.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Sanford Gates, of Hitchcock; his mother, Mrs. Alice Gates, of La Marque; a daughter, Melissa Gates of Hitchcock; three brothers, Douglas Gates of Baytown, Kenneth Gates of La Marque and Tommy Gates also of La Marque. Aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Gates, Kenneth Gates, Tommy Gates, Donny Roberts, John Priddy, Gary Jones, Darrell Wilson and Richard Bunker. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Moore, Gary Alexander, Thornton Clark, Keith Billerbeck, Ed Sanford, Kevin Sanford and fellow workers in the polybutane department at Amoco Chemical Company.
Visitors may call at the James Crowder Funeral Home after 8 a.m. today.
