    • Obituary:

      George Nelson Marriott, 71, of Eldon died Thursday, Dec. 26, 1996, at Capital Region Medical Center - Southwest in Jefferson City.

      He was born Feb. 25, 1925, at Versailles to August and Rosella M. Hutchison Marriott. He was married Feb. 8, 1946, in Troy, Kan., to Hazel G. Vessells, who survives at the home.

      Mr. Marriott was a butcher for Wilson Meat Company in Columbia for many years, retiring in 1987. He resided in Columbia from 1967 until 1987 and then moved to Eldon. He was a Methodist.

      In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gary N. Marriott of Eldon; a daughter, Gail Lynn Overbeck of Columbia; two sisters, Helen Visccoli and Arietta Moore, both of Versailles; and six grandchildren.

      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles with the Rev. Jackie Moore officiating. Burial was in Versailles Cemetery.

      Memorials are suggested to the Missouri River Home Health and Hospice in Versailles.
