- Obituary:
Gary Nelson Marriott, 67, of Eldon, Missouri passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at SSM Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was born July 1, 1948 in Dallas, Texas the son of the late George and Hazel (Vessels) Marriott. On June 1, 1969 in Versailles, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Carole (Daniels) Marriott who survives of the home.

He attended the University of Central Missouri from 1967-1969. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp Airborne serving from 1970-1973 in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Greece, Turkey Crete, Azores & Spain. He attended Central Methodist College from 1973-1975, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He was assistant football coach and Physical Education teacher with the Eldon School System from 1977-1979, and was head football coach for the Tipton High School. From 1979-1992 he received his Master's Degree in Secondary Administration and Specialist Degree and was head football coach for the Eldon High School. From 1992-1999 he was Athletic Director; Assistant High School Principal, Eldon, MO; Middle School Principal, Eldon, MO; in 1999 he received his Doctoral Degree and was Regional Coordinator for William Woods University.
A sister, Gail Overbeck and a niece, Emily Fitzhugh preceded him in death.
A Memorial Service with Full Military Honors will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Eldon Middle School with Rev. Steve George officiating and a Visitation to follow from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
Memorials in his name are suggested to the Gary Marriott Scholarship Fund in care of Central Bank of Eldon, MO.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO.
