    • Obituary:

Louise Pate, 93 entered eternal life on Saturday, November 6, 2021, in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Louise was born in 1928, in Oak Grove, Louisiana to the union of Mary Herlevic Crnkovic and Alphonse Crnkovic. After losing her mother at the age of four, she and her brother Nick lived with their maternal grandmother in Oak Grove until their father remarried. The family then moved to Hemphill, Texas where her brother Fred was born.

Louise met her future husband, Harold V. Pate in Hemphill. On his return from service in the U.S Navy they married in 1947. They later moved to Nacogdoches, Texas for Harold to pursue a degree in Forestry Management at Stephen F Austin State College.

Louise pursued her degree in education at SFA until she became a mother to Mary, the first of their five children. After Harold's graduation, they moved back to Hemphill were Harold worked for his father and their family grew with the arrival of two more children, Letitia and David.

The family moved to Longleaf, Louisiana in 1958 where Harold begin work as the forester for Crowell Lumber Company and they welcomed two more children, Tom and Jean. She was very involved in her children's lives, encouraging them to excel in school. She set a good example by teaching while continuing to pursue her degree and run the household.

She eventually received her undergraduate degree in education from Louisiana College and began her almost 30 year teaching career; first at Oakdale Elementary and later at Glenmora Elementary School.

She was a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church; teaching weekly Catechism after she retired from public school education. She was very involved in beautifying the community through the Glenmora Garden Club. She maintained her yard beautifully with something blooming in every season.

She really enjoyed her role as grandmother to her thirteen grandchildren, Casey, Karyn, Trey, Stephanie, Anna, Jennifer, Seth, Steven, Sarah, Emily, Bennett, Callie and Landon as a great grandmother to Isaac, Caroline, Joel, Jonah, Aidan, Chase, Evan, Ruby, Towns, Kennedy, Kate and Graham.

She is predeceased by her husband, Harold; her parents, Mary and Alphonse; her stepmother, Rena; her brothers in law, Glen Pate and Nick Podhaski; and much loved sisters in law, Pauline Podhaski, Maurgarite Pate, Jane Rawson, Jodie Crnkovic and Jackie Crnkovic.
