    • Obituary:

Our beloved wife and mother, Lydia "MeMe" Ehrhardt, peacefully passed away to her heavenly home on November 12, 2023, at the age of 81. A celebration of life will be held in Couch Chapel of First Methodist Church of Shreveport on Thursday, November 16th at 10:00 am with Dr. Will K. Andress officiating. There will be a reception in the Chapel Parlor following the service.

Lydia was born on January 11, 1942, in Logansport, Louisiana to Irma Ruth Johnson and Andrew Duke McGlathery. She was the youngest of four children. She graduated from Logansport High School where she was a Majorette and was Homecoming Queen her Senior Year. She attended Centenary College, studied Elementary Education, and was active in the Chi Omega Sorority. While at Centenary, on St. Patrick's Day 1962, she went on a blind date and met her husband of almost 61 years.

Lydia was a member of the Eastern Star with her mother and sister Lela and was a member of the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier. Once the children were grown, she followed Nevel all over Texas with his work making new friends. She and Nevel joined First Methodist Church when they moved back to Shreveport. Lydia loved her Co-Ed Sunday School Class and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was an active member of the PEO Chapter M and enjoyed their monthly gatherings with her PEO sisters. Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing the piano, reading, attending LSU and A&M football games, and telling stories. Lydia had a gift for painting and making beautiful hand-crafted gifts for family and friends.

Lydia was preceded in death by her parents Irma Ruth and Andrew Duke McGlathery; her brothers Frank and Andy McGlathery and sister Lela Tucker and her granddaughter, Audrey Claire Ehrhardt. She is survived by her husband, Nevel Houston Ehrhardt, her daughter Laura Vaughan and husband Benny; sons Duke Ehrhardt and wife Brenda and Keo Ehrhardt and wife Debi. Grandchildren, Christopher Vaughan and wife Caitlin; Patrick Vaughan and wife Morgan; Camille Boriack and husband Ian; Andrew Ehrhardt, Hayden Ehrhardt; Thomas Ehrhardt, Frances Ehrhardt and Kaitlyn Ehrhardt; Five great grandchildren, Benjamin Vaughan, Finn Vaughan, Hattie Vaughan, Oliver Vaughan and Audrey Vaughan and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Christopher Vaughan, Patrick Vaughan, Ian Boriack, Andrew Ehrhardt, Hayden Ehrhardt, and Thomas Ehrhardt.

We want to express our appreciation to the staff of Regional Hospice, and especially to Trish Williams, LaTisha Menifee, Amy Epp, Pam Avery, Martha Price, Chasity Ebarb, Randy Goudeau for their support and care for Lydia during this past year.
