    • Obituary:

      Funeral for Herman Monroe Andrus, 54, of Rusk, formerly of Lufkin, was at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Renfro Memorial Chapel at Boren Conner Funeral Home with Michael Curry officiating. Burial was a 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Willow Hole Cemetery in North Zulch, Madison County.

      Mr. Andrus died Thursday in a Tyler hospital after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 26, 1937, in Madison County. He was a carpenter and a member of the Southside Baptist Church at Lufkin. He had lived in Rusk for nine months and formerly lived at Lufkin.

      Survivors include his wife, Gale Andrus of Rusk; two sons, Duane Andrus of Lufkin and Dallas Andrus of Baytown; two stepsons, Danny Shugart of Maydelle and Jakie Walker of Rusk; two daughters, Kim West and Vicki Lucas of Sulphur Springs; four step-daughters, Sheila Hassell of Maydelle, Brenda Dominy of Rusk, Starla Walker of Chanelview and Debra Walker of Pasadena; two sisters, Ella May and Estelle Nelson of North Zulch; 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

      Pallbearers were Billy Lucas, Keith Hassell, Earl Doiny, Danny Shugart, Jakie Walker, Keith Teel, Randy West and James Sanchez.
