Mrs. Hodges Rites Today In Springhill

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Springhill for Mrs. Ruth Hodges, 73, of Springhill and formerly of Shreveport, who was killed Sunday in a highway accident near Fayetteville, Ark., while returning from graduation exercises at the University of Arkansas.

Dr. James W. Middleton pastor of the First Baptist Church of Shreveport, where Mrs. Hodges had been a member for several years, will officiate at the services at the Central Baptist Church of Springhill. The Rev. Dean Elkins, pastor of the church, will assist. Burial is to be in Cotton Valley.

The accident occurred during a rainstorm. Mrs. Hodges had attended the graduation of a niece, Miss Thelma Houston of Sarepta, driver of the car in which she was riding. Miss Houston and two sisters, also from Sarepta, were injured slightly.

Mrs. Hodges was the widow of G. Egan Hodges, founder of the Hodges Storage Co. of Shreveport. A native of Sarepta, she moved here about 38 years ago, and last year moved to Springhill to live with a sister, Mrs. Gertie Cochran.

Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Grace Pugh, Sarepta; and two brothers, V.E. Houston, Shreveport and Lee Houston, Sarepta.

Pallbearers will be Earl, David and Lonnie Houston, Newell Pugh, Houston Adkins and Melbourne Cochran.
