  Obituary: David "Black" Edward Allen, Jr. March 4, 1936 - June 17, 2024 David "Black" Edward Allen, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 88 on Monday, June 17, 2024. He was a commercial fisherman and former owner of Allen's Grocery; resident of Bayou Sorrel and native of Bayou Chene, LA. Black is survived by his wife of 61 years Joyce Cavalier Allen; daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Donald Tanner; son, Jerome Allen; grandchildren, Christopher Allen, Krystin Allen and fiance Josh Evans, David Tanner and Elizabeth Meacham, and Gage LeBlanc; great-grandchildren Emma Kate Evans and Morgan Leblanc; siblings, Anthony "Tony" Allen, Elaine Allen, Linda Allen, and Jocelyn "Jackie" Duncan. He is preceded in death by his parents, David E. Allen and Electa Guillot Allen; great-granddaughter Parker Kate Evans; and siblings Walter, Butch, JD, Judy, Michael, and Thomas "Tubby". He was a member of Bayou Sorrel Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Comfort Care Hospice for all their care during his last days. Visitation will be at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 9am until services at 1pm conducted by Pastor Garrett Brown.
