Shown above is Corporal Charles Houston, son of Hattie Houston of Sarepta, and his wife. Corporal Houston recently has been transferred to the Philippine Islands for duty with the U.S. army air corps. Rosa Mae "Polly" Houston
Rosa Mae "Polly" Houston, 89, of Amarillo died Sunday, May 20, 2007. Private graveside services will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Larry Brown officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Polly was born Dec. 20, 1917, in Cotton Valley, La. She worked as a proof operator in the banking business. She retired from First State Bank of Amarillo. Rosa was a member of Southwest Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Houston, in 1987. Survivors include two sons, Charles C. Houston Jr. and James H. Houston and wife Deborah, all of Amarillo; a brother, George Herschel Bollier of Pine Bluff, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Brian James Houston of Tucson, Ariz., Patricia Marie Abbato of Aurora, Colo., Jevon Houston and Jared Houston, both of Jacksonville, N.C., Sarah Blackburn of Austin, Alex Houston of Amarillo and Ronald Ray Houston of Houston; 10 great-grandchildren, Jack Blackburn, Max Blackburn, Tate Blackburn, Makayla Abbato, Zachary Abbato, Cassie Abbato, Michelle Abbato, Sarah Houston, Katie Houston and Kristina Houston. The family suggests memorials be to the High Plains Children's Home, P.O. Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114-7448.
