HOWARD ALFORD LIPSEY, 78, of Memphis, retired switchman for HB&T Railroad, died of heart failure Friday at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Forest Hill Funeral Home Midtown with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery Midtown. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. Mr. Lipsey, the husband of Dorothy B. Lipsey, also leaves three daughters, Judy Carroll of Houston, Paula Zettergren of Senatobia, Miss., and Leaellen Miller of New Caney, Texas; three sons, David G. Lipsey, Howard A. Lipsey Jr., and Johnny H. Lipsey, all of Houston; a stepdaughter, Virginia Brown of Snow Lake, Miss.; seven sisters, Barbara Hallmark of Arizona, Sarah Irwin, Mary Reasor and Mercedes King, all of Memphis, Carol Wells of Missouri City, Texas, Margaret Pressley of Coldwater, Miss., and Patsy Baker of Martin; three brothers, John William Lipsey, Dr. George Lipsey and David Lipsey, all of Memphis, 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
