Hicks
Ray Myral Hicks, 60, died Wednesday afternoon following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Galloway and Sons Chapel, with Rev. Homer Hanna officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore with Masonic graveside services. Pallbearers will be Ted Wilkinson, Jack Riggle, R.H. Hartman, Bill Matheson, Kenneth Crisp and Candido Gonzales.
C.P. Ross will be an honorary pallbearer.
Mr. Hicks was born Dec. 28, 1920, in Brownwood to Lula May (Franc) and Alfred Myral Hicks.
He was a sergeant in the 106th Golden Lion Division 423 Infantry Regiment in Rheims, France, during World War II.
A resident of Bee County most of his life, he married the former Dorothy Rothlisberger Feb. 16, 1940, in Sinton.
He was a retired civil service employee and a painting and building contractor.
Mr. Hicks was a senior deacon and treasurer of the Skidmore Baptist Church. He was a member of the Beeville Masonic Lodge No. 261 A.F. & A.M., serving as past master and past district deputy. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 422 and served as past patron.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Hicks of Skidmore; one son, Kenneth Ray Hicks of Beeville; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Ann Segelken of Skidmore; his mother, Mrs. Lula May Hicks of Skidmore, and four grandchildren, Louis Ray and Stephen Wayne Dickinson and Kennie Raye and David Wayne Hicks.

SKIDMORE - Ray Myral Hicks, 60, died here Wednesday.
He was a retired painter and building contractor.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; a son, Kenneth Ray Hicks of Beeville; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Ann Segelken of Skidmore; his mother, Mrs. Lula May Hicks of Skidmore; and four grandchildren.

BEEVILLE - Ray Myral Hicks, 60, of Skidmore, died Wednesday following a short illness.
Born Dec. 28, 1920 in Brownwood, he was a senior deacon and treasurer at the Skidmore Baptist Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 261 AF&AM and a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 422. A retired Civil Service building contractor, he was a sergeant in World War II, serving with the 106th Golden Lion Division, 423 Infantry Regiment in Rheme, France (Elgium, Buldge).
He married Dorothy Rothlisberger Feb. 16, 1940 in Sinton. A lifetime resident of Bee County, he resided in Skidmore since 1940.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home Inc. chapel with the Rev. Homer Hanna and the Rev. Dwayne Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore. Pallbearers will be Ted Wilkinson, Bill Matheson, Jack Riggle, Kenneth Crisp, R.H. Hartman and Candido Gonzales.
He was preceeded in death by his father, Alfred Myral Hicks.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Hicks of Skidmore: a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Ann Segelken of Skidmore; a son, Kenneth Ray of Beeville: mother, Mrs. Lula May Franc of Skidmore; and four grandchildren.
