- Obituary:
Allen Ray Rowland, 72, of Longwood, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017. Allen was born on June 24, 1944 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; the son of Leroy and Mabel Rowland. He received a Master's of Business Degree from Stanford Executive Program in 1993. Allen married Sandra Phillips on March 6, 1971, and they shared 46 years of marriage until his passing. Allen retired as CEO of Winn Dixie after 3 years of employment with the grocer. Prior to Winn Dixie he spent 25 years with Albertsons holding many positions with the final position being Senior Vice President. He moved his family to Florida in 1976 from Texas. Allen was involved in his community during his time with Winn Dixie. He was named honorary captain of the Jacksonville Jaguars for his involvement in sponsorship endeavors with the team. He was named Retailer of the Year in 2003. He was very involved with his company's support of our troops and the families they left during service abroad. Allen leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Sandy, son Christopher Ray Rowland of Fairbanks, Alaska, daughters Traci Rowland Badour and fiancé Marty J. Hogan of Hudson, Florida, Donnette Lea Leffler and husband John of Lake Mary, Florida, seven grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a brother Jack Rowland of Aurora, Colorado; and sister Lavon Packard of Surprise, Arizona, and well as countless friends and former co-workers who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John Rowland, and a sister Anita Stewart. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 11:00 am to 1:00PM in Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn chapel in Sanford, Florida. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm on Wednesday with Father Charles Holt officiating. Entombment will follow in Oaklawn Park Cemetery.
