Henry Services Held Saturday At Gossen Chapel
Morris James Henry, passed from this world Thursday evening, January 8, 1981, after an illness at his home in New Iberia.
Born in Mermentau, La., January 15, 1900, one of 13 children, the son of Eve LeBlanc and O'neal Henry who was a rice farmer and descended from a pioneer family of South Louisiana.
At 18 years of age, he attended "Tyler Business College" in Tyler, Texas and completed the course. In 1920, he began his 45 year career with Southern Pacific Railroad Company advancing in management capacities during these years.
In 1921, he married Mary Marie Clements of Rayne, La. The Henry's lived in Jennings, Alexandria, Opelousas, Lake Charles, New Iberia, La. and Galveston, Texas, following his 45 year career with Southern Pacific Railroad.
As District Freight and Passenger agent in Galveston, Texas, he retired in 1965. Each community that Mr. Henry's work brought him to, he became very active in Civic organizations.
While living in Galveston, he received a "Distinguished Service Award" from the Boy Scouts of America for contributing twenty years of dedicated service. Although he had no sons of his own, he gladly gave his time to young boys. He always looked for the good in people, loved life and lived it to the fullest. He will best be remembered for his cheerful and positive attitude.
He recently stated, "When I pass from this world do not grieve for me. I've had a full life, a good and happy marriage and I'm very proud of both of my daughters, and all their children." At his death, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, in New Iberia, La.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary C. Henry; two daughters, Mrs. Jack O. Broussard (Anita) and Mrs. F.G. LaRose, Jr. (Patsy); six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Emil Guidry and Mrs. Albert Gauthier, of Jennings, La.
The funeral was held at the Gossen Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 1981. Funeral arrangements were conducted by Gossen Funeral Home at Rayne La.

MORRIS JAMES HENRY
RAYNE, La. - Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, at Gossen Funeral Home for Morris James Henry, 80, who died on January 8 at his residence. Burial was held in the St. Joseph cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, for former Mary Clement of New Iberia; two daughters, Mrs. Jack O. Broussard of New Iberia and Mrs. F.G. LaRose Jr., of Houma; two sisters, Mrs. Emil Guidry and Mrs. Albert Gauthier, both of Jennings; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He retired in 1965 as district freight and passenger agent after 45 years of service with Southern Pacific Railroad Company. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of New Iberia.
