  Obituary: John Robert Edwards, born June 7, 1947 in Austin, TX died December 3, 2010 of complications from cancer. He is survived by his wife Irana, and daughters Jennifer Burns, Sofia, Melissa Grace, and son Robert John, granddaughters, Lexie and Lilly, his brother Jim and first wife Suzanne Edwards. A graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School, University of Houston student, and Vietnam War Veteran, Johns' professional life started in Purchasing with Brown and Root and continued till his death while working as Procurement Director for McDermott Asia/Pacific, based in The Republic of Singapore. John traveled worldwide seeing, Times Red, and Tennamon Squares, The Forbidden City and many places that he said he never thought he would see being a Cold War child and a UT Longhorn fan. John was a member of United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school and Disciples classes. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, sage advice and support in addition to his love for his family A celebration of life will be held for John Thursday, December 9, at 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home located at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas.
